What is the limit here?

According to some on here there is absolutely nothing he can due in terms of Wins and Losses this year to get fired. The only way he gets fired according to some is if we have discipline issues...otherwise some think that he gets another year regardless.

I dunno whats going to happen be in my opinion he should have been fired last year. Way way to much talent last year not to have figured it out. Then the terrible recruiting class we pulled off....I hate it when I read "we were lucky to get anyone"

I think it was clear we needed a starting Center (because gallon wanted to play the 4) and a starting SG and we didnt get either

I said after last year he deserved on more chance, giving him a pass for year one and making the tourney years 2 and 3. but since htis year will be worse than last year, he has to go. has to. no questions asked.

He def needs to go but he should have went last year. I dont care what the issues were if capel would have been a leader last year we could have been great. 3 burger boys and none of them played the same position!! pg, sg, and PF/C
Plus a seasoned tony crocker, a cade davis hustler, a wright that hustles and foules (lol)....we had the talent and the guys that would put in the work to hustle

Tiny had issues when he was younger then at oak hill he straightened up due to coaching...coach said get your act together or leave....
WW was amazing his first year...I believe this was due to blake and taylor's leadership...once they left so did WW pretty much
TMG never played good defense but we should have designed a defense that minimized his flaws...instead we played man to man alot and he got burnt....we could have designed something that minimized his defensive liabilities.

I mean 9 losses in a row..really!?
Even if we benched TMG because of his lack of Defense we are still better than a 9 in a row team...terrible coaching last year...terrible recruiting last year...led to this years problems

Clearly Jeff is to blame but I believe he is the right coach to fix things and able to fix them faster than anyone short of Calapari. Jeff has kids in the pipeline, relationships built, name recognition. Jeff is now properly seasoned, not like when he was given the job. If the fan base cannot suck it up and stay behind him into next season then we will start from scratch again next year, setting us back an extra season. Discipline issues or recruiting issues could cause me to change my opinion but Capel is the best way back.

Seriously? How could anyone support John Blake. I think it is funny he cried racism because if anything I would say fear of being accused a racist got the man support. Blake was the worst coach I have ever seen. Capel is teeing to take that title. When I say this I mean at OU

Much like with Capel now, it wasn't that I supported him, rather I just wasn't sure that starting over was the way to go.

I think the saddest part about this year is that I haven't seen the fire from Capel that I have in the past. The players are still fighting and that makes me happy, but to see Capel just sit there on the sideline is sad. To make it worse, he has jumped in and acted like a motivator late in close games, and as a player you know that has to feel hollow.

Actually it can be argued that Blake's teams got progressively better whereas Capel's seem to be getting worse.

That's the way I felt at the time; every year we improved. Of course the improvement was minimal, but it was improvement and I was afraid that another change could set us back to square one. Obviously I'm an idiot.

IT sure seems to me that I have read this thread over and over, but with different titles. If it continues, I think I will read the same arguments for and against. What did we do before message boards?

Actually, I'd rather fire Joe C.

Well knowing what we know now about John Blake's character we are very, very lucky that things played out like they did, but ultimately what got John Blake fired (beyond wins and losses) was the quarterback situation. The QB position under Blake was an absolute debacle. We played SIX qb's in one season, for christ's sake.

This.

If I had to set a limit, it would be based on conference play. If we win 6 games or fewer, Capel's gone. If we win 7-9, we evaluate based on where we think the team's future is headed. 10 or more, he's golden.
