I am curious why some of you have ISU so high? Don't they lose a bunch of guys?

I honeslty have no clue how to rate the Big XII next season. I would start with KU at the top, then OSU. After that I think it is almost pure speculation.

You folks with Baylor in the top 3 are delusional.

I understand that Kansas will still be good, but I hardly think picking OSU first is "laughable."

OSU has, by far, the most productive talent returning in the conference.

And speaking of KU's conference championship streak, OSU was the last non-KU team to win the conference outright, so it only makes sense that we would break their streak... :)

You understand "gotta see it to believe it" right, Jeff? I think I would pick KU even if OU returned the talent O State does. They are a machine in this conference. I hope we can all agree it is a 2 horse race, though. O State's talented returnees and mediocre coach vs KU's inexperienced stars of the future and possibly the best coach in the country.

A third place team with a first round tourney exit that's without the pedigree of Self and Kansas.

I'll pass.

I understand that. My point is that it's not "laughable" to pick OSU to win the conference, considering that most expert will be picking them.

This whole "Ford is a mediocre coach" thing is an interesting phenomenon. Is Ford considered mediocre because he didn't make the tournament with two teams that were completely devoid of talent?

Yeah, well, analysis is all in the details, isn't it?

  • The "third-place team" was actually one game away from being conference co-champs.
  • The team "without the pedigree of Self and Kansas" beat them in Lawrence and lost by 1 in double-OT at home.
  • And yeah, they lost in the first round, to a team that everyone agreed was massively under-seeded. The same team that beat an SLU team that almost everyone was picking to make a deep tournament run.

So you can find all the reasons you want to pick against OSU, but this is going to be a really good team next year.

Picking against a 10-time champ is laughable, sorry.

It makes no difference that it's OSU.

I'm sure as a fan of OSU you're optimistic you can win the league. That makes sense with the talent returning, but you aren't the favorite, no way.

I will say that on paper it looks to be KU, OSU, Baylor and everyone else one or two notches below.

My mediocre might be somebody else's average. I just know when KU and OState step onto the court together, OState's ONLY advantage will be experienced ball players who have spent a full, successful season playing together. KUs only advantage will be on the bench and it is very possibly more significant than OState's.

OState was a 3rd place Big 12 team last season in a down year and, if Iowa St and OU had not gacked some very winnable games down the stretch, they would have been in 4th or 5th. Please don't color me impressed. They will have a very nice team, better than last season and maybe top 15 in the country. However, I pick KU until I see different. You are correct. It is not absurd to pick OState and many will. I also expect many will be wrong.

I just dont see it with Baylor, Scott Drew does less with more than any coach I can remember.

I'd love to have Baylor's roster. Kruger coaching those cats or even OState's would be dynamite.
