What't up with Pledger just disappearing in the 2nd half of games?

It seems like he comes out on fire and then just vanishes from the games.....Can he not do anything other than shoot threes?

Offensively? Not really. Why would you want him doing something else? He still shot 50% from three tonight. His shooting, or lack of 2nd half scoring, didn't lose us this game.

No it didnt lose it, but as a senior he needs to take more of a leadership role. He's basically Tony Crocker, but at least Crock helped out when we were getting pressed and occasionally tried to create his own shot. With a lead, you dont need threes, so why have him on the court? put another big in and pound it down low. He was just wasting space out there.

Have you watched us play this year? You want us to put fitz, RO and amath! They would zone is and we would get 25 shot clock violations! Be a basketball fan/ have a little knowledge before pipping up clown statements!

You clearly know NOTHING about basketball.

All those easy hoops Osby got in the 2nd half. Those were due in part to Pledger drawing a defender all the way out to the corner. A defender that wasn't helping at all in the 2nd half. That is good basketball. That is good strategy. That is TEAM ball.

Where was he during a 32-10 run for UT? Where were all of those "easy" baskets we were getting? He was a senior not helping out on the press, not playing D, not getting the ball and CREATING.

M'Baye is the same way offensively.....but at least he came to the ball and helped break the press.

Stop, before your stupidity gets you banned.

He was EXACTLY where he was suppose to be on the press. You don't think LK would have said something if he was suppose to be somewhere else? Good grief. Just b/c YOU wanted him somewhere else, doesn't mean LK did.

with a 22 point lead with 7 mins left I would have LOVED to run 35 off the shot clock every time! We would have won the damn game!!!!!!!!!

a 22 point game is at minimum an 8 possession game. 8! that's 16 minutes right there! Not to mention the amount of time texas would have run off the clock when they had the ball.

Obviously, they don't ban people for stupidity. The proof of that is all over this board.

I know. :(
Just venting.
It seems the few of us try to initiate damage control after every loss when all the dumb "fans" come out of the woodwork.

You're telling me that if we wouldnt have just taken the air out of the ball with a 22 point lead and 7 mins left, we wouldnt have won the game? The ONLY way Texas was going to get back in the game was if we turned the ball over AND took early shots and missed. We had to do both and we did both. On the times when we did break the press, just let the clock run down! Rewatch the game and see how many times we take a shot with 15+ on the shotclock in the last 10 mins of the game. I lost count after a while.
All Texas would have been able to do was foul us. We are one of the best foul shooting teams in the league.

Try 4 minutes for each team genius

I'm less concerned about his offensive output in the second half than I am with his decision making. He has a bad habit to foul three point shooters, and his foul tonight with OU up 4 late changed the game. As a senior, you have to know to not even put yourself in that position.

I would've rather seen Pledger in the front court helping out with the press as opposed to being on the other end of the court.

That's true. If stats were available for the number of times an OU player has fouled a three point shooter, Pledger would lead by a large margin. There is no doubt that was a costly play. It allowed UT to cut the margin to two with no time off of the clock. That's not the kind of mistake a senior leader should make.

I thought Pledger played pretty good defense there. That foul was very very questionable IMO. The Texas player definitely "drew" that foul.

Pledger fouled with 9 seconds left. McLellan made all three free throws to cut the lead to 1. Osby made one FT on the other end to make it a 2 point game. The horrible part of the foul is that McClellan shoots 21% from three in conference play. You have to force him to make that shot, and if he does, you can at least live with that. It's a mistake I wouldn't even expect from a seasoned freshman, much less a senior who has played in as many games as Pledger. He makes poor decisions often, which only makes things worse.
