Meet Tatum Veitenheimer, the pigtailed leader from a noisy dirt road in Texas

And two very good recruits.
Tatum and Llanusa could be the core that gets OU back to competing/winning Big 12 titles.

But OU's got to start adding some athletic height back into the program at the 4 spot.
Monet Jones from her HUDL film looks like a good option.

Yep. The 2018 recruiting class has a ways to go to fill out the roster.

Oklahoma Basketball / 2018-19 Roster (as of 7/16/2017)
8 Scholarship Players (15 Allowed)

Seniors (2)
> Gileysa Penzo (G; 5-9) .. San Juan, Puerto Rico
> Ijeoma Odimgbe (F; 6-4) .. Savanna, Georgia

Juniors (1)
> Morgan Rich (G; 5-10) .. Scottsville, Kentucky

Sophomores (3)
> Ana Llanusa (G; 6-0) .. Choctaw, Oklahoma
> Shaina Pellington (G; 5-7) .. Pickering, Ontario, Canada
> Mandy Simpson (F; 6-0) .. Boise, Idaho

Freshmen (2)
> Tatum Veitenheimer (G; 5-7) .. Windthorst, Texas
> Jessi Murcer (G, 5-7) .. West Moore, Oklahoma

I hope Tatum can be a big help to OU, but I'm not sure she will be a big upgrade over Ortiz, only time will tell...

I think Tatum will be a major improvement over Ortiz but without some highly skilled interior players this team is going to continue to be mediocre. The 2018-19 roster presently has 1 person over 6'0" and that is Odimgbe need I say more.

Maybe the bigs don't want to play offense in a 4 guard offense and particularly a defense with 4 guards on the floor.

I feel the same way about Tatum, I'm sure she's good but whether or not she's an improvement over Ortiz remains to be seen. We should have a smaller, faster team from the looks of it. So if 15 scholarships are allowed, SC could technically add 7 more players to what we already have for next year? That's pretty exciting

Soonerguy,
Sherri's last big class was not exactly loaded with play makers.

At worst, Tatum could play SG allowing Llanusa to big wing. That's if Shaina takes over the PG spot which I guess is possible.

yeah i remember the last big class she had, i think it was 5 players and 2-3 were duds. i sometimes question what they are thinking when they offer on some of these girls like Kellogg. I hate the speak poorly of anyone of these girls because I know they play their hearts out, but she never showed any promise. There was also Gibbs, Cloman, Zander, Jeffcoat, Yancey, etc that never ever really got any playing time because they couldn't compete. Any thoughts anyone?

And yet some of those players were well thought of. I remember when we got Jeffcoat and her brother went to Austin, many were saying we got the best of that deal.

I agree, Banjo. Lots of highly rated high school players never fulfill their promise when they reach college. And some players who were little more than an afterthought in high school blossom when they start playing college ball. Sometimes, all they need is a chance.
