Who are these guys?

Y’all are doing more complaining about someone’s post saying y’all can’t cheer for OU then actually congratulating the team. That’s what’s frustrating to me. You can be upset about the conference record, I get that. However, after a win some people take backhanded shots like “why don’t we play like this all the time”, “they are playing hard for once”. No team can play great all the time & this team consistently plays hard. I appreciate how this team has played this season & am happy with 20 wins with a brutal schedule, ncaa bid & win.

Now let’s get ready to pound Gardner Webb (fingers crossed)

There was a most generous amount of positive vibe to the point where cigarettes were lit and some people thought it was appropriate to toss water and douse the experience. Are people not allowed to defend their time in the sun?

I didn’t see much positive from the people b****ing

BCSooners, I urge you to go back and read the first three responses to the OP’s post and you’ll see how this got started.

Those posts could easily have been and should have been joyful cheers to a great first half, instead of a challenge to posters who dared to have anything negative to say at any point of the season. When I’m put into the category of a “disloyal fan” because I wasn’t totally happy with the conference portion of our season, I’m going to respond accordingly.

I have a feeling those posters wish they could take back what they said. But, that is a perfect example of the kind of posts that need to stop!

I’ve read the thread. My point is that people are eager to jump on a post to again voice there displeasure of the conference record but aren’t eager to compliment the team when deserved.

I don’t agree with the post that got everyone pissed off but I’m tired of people focusing on the negative when this season, as a whole, has been pretty successful.

Imo you're crazy. Everyone is pumped but Wichita and coachtalk.

This was a transformative win as far as the season goes. This team has been rough and imo could have been much better all year.. but that's water under the bridge at the moment. We've won and advanced. Anything else is gravy this year. And yet still kruger has a lot to still change/improve imo. And this very same awesome win doesn't change that either imo

At what point in the game thread did you find negativity? During or after the game.

My perception of this entire season came down to today. My biggest issue going in was that we were 1-9 against the other B12 teams that made the tourney. And in about half of those games we were completely non-competitive and looked downright unprepared to play. It was a weird season at 19-13 in that those results were really fine based on my expectations, but many times OU did not pass the eye test.

Had they lost today it would have been a very very “meh” year for me with really to really get excited about. But today was big. They were exceptionally good. And that includes all aspects: preparation, effort, execution, toughness. It was an A+ day for the program and validates making the tournament. I don’t have much hope for Sunday, but I’ll look forward to seeing them take a shot. It’s a gravy game for me now—I’m happy for the seniors and for Lon. Been a fairly tough 3 year stretch with some down times. Glad they got to have at least one more really good moment. In one day for me this season went from mild disappointment to success.

Very true. This team has been hard to watch in conference play.

But, with all its flaws, this team now has 20 wins and a win in the NCAA tournament. We've had much better teams lose in the first round. For this year, it's all gravy from here.

I'm excited about the big win today.

My statement is for people who only post negative, they can’t be found when things go good but chomp at the bit to get a shot in when they can. I’ve posted both negative & positive this year but overall it’s been a solid year.

I think this team has had a solid year and has improved throughout the year as a whole, not just 1 game samples. Every single coach can improve but just bc Kruger’s style isn’t to your liking I don’t think he needs to change much. The quality of players could improve but other than that they play hard & have done well.

Im not just talking about style.. but i don't really wanna litigate this rn. Im so pumped for this team.

How anybody can say this team improved throughout the year I will never know. We lost 3 of our last 5, and 8 of our last 12 before today.

Plenty of folks showing praise for the team today. They played great.

Watch the 1st 3 games compared to the last 3.

I've seen a lot of up and down, like various players trying to find their way.

Today, I saw one of the best-played games I have ever seen at OU. It was a coaching clinic, and Mississippi just happened to get in the way. As good as they were, and they shot well, it was like watching the Washington Generals try to play the Globetrotters. Everyone would have been in awe of the three you hit, if you hadn't let OU throw it in and get two back before you crossed the midcourt line.

Did you see anyone take a dumb shot?

Last years team had one of the best players we've seen at OU in the last 20 years in Trae Young and that says a lot because we had Blake Griffin, Buddy Heild, Eduardo Najera, Hollis Price just to name a few in that time frame but Trae is up there with all of them. And they won 18 games and barely made the tournament and lost in the first round. This team was basically supposed to be a shell of that team. And was hurt by McNease being hurt leaving us with no real inside threat playing basically a stretch 4 in Manek and a small forward as our only post guys. And it somehow worked. It worked enough to improve on last years win total. I was saying coming into the season I would be shocked if we won more than 15-16 games. I'm pretty sure I posted that. So this year hasn't been a disappointment for me. Yes I was down on them when we had that bad stretch in the Big 12. But 20 wins for this team is remarkable. It should be up there as far as Lon's best coaching jobs so far.

We are pumped. We’ve been there all year. We weren’t on the fire Lon Kruger team. Blame the assistants. Joe C doesn’t care about hoops.

Etc etc.

Frustrated at times is fine. We all get that way:

I know it’s personal with you, WT. I handle that.

Well said Ada. I get so tired of this "holier than thou" crap after we have a great performance. Some people just can't enjoy the win without getting their shots in.

They are never satisfied with others but others should be satisfied with them.

Dude, why bring me into this? I didn't direct anything at you.

Haha. Carry on fair weather fans.

Honorable quality

Since I was at the game yesterday, I'm just starting to read some of these threads now. We appreciate all the inside info you have brought to this Board, but your posts in this thread were unnecessarily harsh. So, we have a small percentage of fans (and it's very small) who you never hear from when things go well, but don't shut up when things go south. However, most of those who post regularly are anything but "fair-weathered". I've shut my TV off more than once this year out of disgust (when the effort was substandard), and certainly was frustrated at times. A couple of those home losses were inexcusable, and this fan base had every right to be highly disappointed and voice their displeasure. Even SoonerTraveler, the poster I view as the most level-headed on this board, has been noticeably frustrated at times. No reason to call anybody out.

I also agree Sooner04 had the best response on this thread.

Great win...great play...

Something the team had a lapse of. No harm in calling that out.

I guess, since I USUALLY watch at home...by myself (minus my mother in law - she's one cool lady) I use the message board like a buddy that I'm watching the game with...

some *****ing and moaning throughout the game...like I would watching it live or at the bar...

some hootin and hollerin like I would at the game...or at a bar...

It is what it is...I've been watching OU since Wayman's days.

Boomer~

i take exception to this.

I think anyone who is worried about us setting up shop in the bottom of the conference standings is validated in their concerns.

Personally, i think the program is leaking a little oil. So i need to find somewhere else to go to talk sooner hoops? Against our peers, the teams we see twice a year or more, we're the worst in the league over a three-year span. I don't think that's acceptable, so now i can't be thrilled to death that we won a game in the ncaa tournament?

If only the sunshine can be pumped then i'll re-read the memo of membership around here. As aggravated as i was at this batch of seniors for their continued shortcomings, i am that proud of their performance today. That's part of what makes them so maddening. They shouldn't be the worst team in the big 12 over a three-year span. They shouldn't be laying egg after egg in kansas city. But they are, and that frustrates me.

So now my frustration keeps me from being able to celebrate on here with my friends because i don't toe the company line? That's bs.

By my preseason metric, this is a successful season. I saw .500. I saw 16 wins, maybe. I was obviously wrong. But the team we saw today shouldn't be getting their doors blown off at home to baylor and k-state. This team shouldn't be losing two out of three to west virginia. But they did. A team that can play like today shouldn't be 7-11 in the big 12 conference. A team like today should be defending the home court and grabbing their share on the road.

I am ecstatic about the win. I'm frustrated with the direction of the program. And that makes me a bad fan? That makes me a bandwagoner? I think that's crap. And i think the policing of alternative viewpoints around here is chicken****. I want to win.

spot on!
