I was trying to give a sarcastic stupid answer to a ridiculous thread.
that wasn't meant for you. I knew your answer was facetious.

Weak thread.
No one on here knows for sure who is coming back, we haven't even finished our recruiting class, and people are making conclusions about a season that doesn't start for 8 months. If you think this team is going to go 13-18 next year, your basketball IQ just isn't very high.

Come on, thats ridiculous. You never know what to expect and everything is opinion. The program is spiraling and they might have to sign 3-4 more guys and hope everyone pans out in order to make the NIT. Hopefully it works out because another season like this one would be difficult to watch.
Anyone who said a team with 3 Mcdonalds All-Americans would go 13-18 would have been shunned a year ago. I caught crap for saying they could finish 6th or 7th before the season started last year.

The part that gets me the most is that it seems like there are some people on this board and on OUI that WANT OU to be bad next year and that seemingly enjoyed us being bad this year. I don't get it.
Misery loves company.
No way? If OU is terrible next season there is no way he keeps his job at OU. You cant go 13-18 and have a similar record the next year and keep your job in major college basketball unless you coach in an impossible situation like what Baylor was in.

This may sound a little harsh but I think some of those who are wanting Capel's head were the same ones who were all in a panic that he was going to be hired away from us last year. I'm sorry but those reactions are what one would expect from junior high girls.
This was a tough year. No one could imagine it being this bad. Injuries, bad chemistry, discipline and lack of depth. Who could have thought that Allen wouldn't improve to give good minutes? Longar did. Sometimes players just don't work out. All of the above is Capel's fault. But a year like this can happen to any coach. Look at Barnes, Donovan and Williams, for instance. There needs to be significant improvement next year with the year finishing with a promise for an even better year following. Joe C will give him another year, probably two and there is not much anyone can do about that. So it would be best for us to support our coach in the meantime.
We can take comfort that Joe C will not let the program drift down to perpetual suckage. He has too much pride for that to happen. But he is a smart, good motivator of people. His first reaction to adversity is to support his guy. He will give Jeff plenty of time to right the ship. If he does not, what quality coach would ever want to come to work for him if he will get fired the first time he stumbles?
Let me be clear. Right now Jeff Capel is the coach of my Sooners and he has my support. I liked him last year. I like him this year. Loyalty only has meaning if it carries you through rough times. Loyalty means nothing if it is all about good times and winning.
Totally agree, but if you put a disclaimer with it stating that players would basically quit, turn on each other, steal from Dillards, fight with the coach, season ending injuries, etc...makes it a bit more plausible.
Honest truth, never seen a team/season spiral like this, just one thing after another.
Alford will be at UNM another year...everyone but Martinez is back, Gordon is eligible at semester. Renovations to The Pit are almost done (suites) and UNM will pony up for a nice raise.
I'll be shocked. Capel has been a good soldier for the university and is only a year removed from the elite 8 and a contract extension. If we play even marginally better basketball next season he will be back.
What purpose do any of these threads serve? We are all wasting time, LOL. None of us is curing cancer here.
