big east big xii
1.Syacuse 1. Kansas
2.Villanova 2. Kansas St
3.West Virginia 3. Baylor
4.Pittsburgh 4. Texas A&M
5.Marquette 5. Missouri
I don't know a whole lot about Syracuse and am biased on that one, anyway, so I'll abstain from commenting on that game.
But regarding the other four, I think all of the games are extremely close and could go either way. I don't see a major advantage for anyone. 2-4 may be a slight lean for the Big East, but I think it mostly would depend on where the games are played.
Regarding Marquette vs. Mizzou, I'm again biased. I know Mizzou beat them last year in the tournament, and I know Marquette, like Mizzou, lost at least three very important seniors (I think Marquette actually lost more). Looking at their roster, they only have three guys taller than 6-6, and only one of those guys plays more than 5 minutes/game (and the one guy who actually sees real time is only 6-7). Mizzou doesn't have much size, either, but in every game MU has played against smaller teams, they've dominated.
Also, for what it's worth, here's 6-12:
Texas Louisville
OSU Notre Dame
Colorado Georgetown
Texas Tech South Florida
Oklahoma Seton Hall
Iowa State Cinci
Nebraska UConn
UT/Louisville depends on which UT team shows up. OSU has the edge over Notre Dame at this point due to injury. CU vs. Georgetown is a definite Big East advantage. I'll call USF/TT a push because I don't know enough about either team. Seton Hall probably has an advantage over OU, but they're another team I don't really know a whole lot about. Cinci and UConn are far and away better than our bottom two.
The real advantage the Big East has over the Big 12 IMO is the mid-low portion of their conference. Their best are not significantly better or worse than our best. Same can be said about their worst (St. Johns, Rutgers, Providence and DePaul). But where we have Iowa State and Nebraska, they have teams with a few NBA players who can knock off anyone on any given night.
