Why is ISU ranked so much higher than OU?

OU has more road wins in the conference, more wins in the conference and beat ISU head to head. It does not make sense to me.

They have some really good non-conference quality win. They ran the table before conference play and beat Iowa, Michigan, and BYU. So people bought into them early. They have no bad losses and plenty of quality win. After tonight we'll be right up there with them, though.

I'm glad they are. I'm glad OSU is.

Keep us at 20 and below and keep making us the underdog. It is working.

The Sooners are the most underrated team in CBB this year.We get a chance to take care of ISU ourselves Saturday. If we win Ames,we should move up to #16 at least.Even with a loss we should move up to at least #20 based on beating the Pukes.

if we had won vs latech we would be sitting in the top 15 right now

true, but I really think this team has learned well from its' losses.

I think what Max said is spot on ... ISU had a great non-conf run and they're riding the effect from it still. That might SEEM illegit but this is a tough conference.

I don't have a huge problem with ISU at 16 but OU only moving up 3 spots after four victories is not right.

you're right. it's not. I don't think "pundits" are sold on OU yet and maybe they think coach is doing it with smoke and mirrors.

thats cool though. playing from behind is a good motivator in basketball and that may give them a good spark.

to ME you just watch these kids play and it's apparent they are worthy. you could see it in the Kansas game. Gawks were SOOOO much bigger that it looked almost awkward. But the Sooners did good work in that game and you could tell they had some gumption and talent. When they figured out they could play with them then (even despite the loss) then they could pretty much play with anyone in the league.

If there is one common theme that I've seen nationally pertaining to OU, it is that OU has been "just getting by" and winning close games. I see this constantly on bracketology blogs. They do get the credit for winning, but it seems like the pundits are waiting on the regression for us to start losing "close games" and it to even itself out. What they don't understand is that OU is ascending and improving week by week....and that there may very well not be a regression at all. In the end, if we keep winning.....everything will take of itself.

Lots of good points on this thread that I agree with.

For my part, I'm not really worried about where we stand in the polls right now. I'll be a lot more interested in where OU is ranked as we get closer to the post season, when being ranked higher is one of the elements the selection committee considers in determining our seeding.

Besides, I like how this team plays when they're not picked to win. If that's what it takes to motivate our kids, I hope every team we face is ranked higher.

Why can't OU win 8 of its last 10 games? I am not saying they will and I wouldn't bet on OU winning 8 of its last 10 but I don't think it is out of the question by any stretch.

Sometimes I think this group of young guys does need the extra motivation. But it's still kind of a slap in the face of the program to see them not move up after some good wins. OU is still stuck at No. 25 in the Coaches' Poll, according to what I saw in my morning fish-wrap.
