Will Trae Stay or Go?

Unfortunately he is 100% gone. Nothing to gain by coming back from a draft standpoint. Maybe a couple of notches, but a lot to lose.

One more thing, I haven’t posted in a long time but I’ve been reading the site for years and I am amazed by some of the non-expert opinions we get over and over and over again about how things are going this year. I don’t see any analysis I just see emotion. If you want to be an analyst maybe try to know a little bit more about basketball than you do.

My brief take on things: no defense, no rebounding and no Spangler like power forward and no one on the team that wants to play those rolls. Everybody wants to shoot and score and with one ball on this team it’s just not happening and it’s pretty sad/amazing to see the results. Very disappointing to say the least. I also don’t think Kruger has done a good job with motivating these guys. Although I will say I was actually quite encouraged by the defensive intensity we showed last night and hopefully we can keep that going for the next few games until the seasons over.

really? that's ALL I've seen....is what you just said..:facepalm

The only reason he would stay or even consider it is due to his personal love for the university and his competitive spirit. Money will not get better for him and he increases the chance for his draft stock to go down... but Traes always done what he wants to do. We’ll see

How stupid he would be to stay LOL. Gone for sure. And OU will be a lot worse next year without him. His control of the dribble and the ball and his amazing passing, on the break and the half court, will have him Many friends on his NBA team AND those teammates will finish most of the time unlike his OU teammates. I’m excited for him and I also think he will shoot a ton of free throws as the NBA refs will call all that crap that college players are doing to him without fouls called.

Trae will be an outstanding NBA player. I think he should go pro but I'm not so sure it's set in stone.

Grayson Allen probably coulda snuck into the lottery if he left after his freshman year, now he’s not even listed in mocks for either round. Trae isn’t someone whose natural size/skills will always make him a top 10 pick so he has to leave while the irons hot.

Trae has everything to lose if he returns, and not much to gain. I just laugh at the "he needs to work on x,y and z" comments. Go get paid $5 million per year to work on those things, don't do it for a $30k in-state tuition scholarship.

He has had a great season, and made what would have been a pretty miserable team competitive. And he's not done yet. I'm not optimistic about the chances, but he's still a good enough player that if he gets hot we could win a couple games in the dance.

I think they’ll be better than ‘17

I agree.

Sorry to say but if Young gets beat up in the Big 12 the NBA guys will eat him alive. Really not that sad to see him go.

Here's what Trae said publicly on the subject last week:

“Just treating it like it’s another game for me,” Young said. “For me, it’s my last one this year. So I don’t know what the future’s gonna hold for me, but I know what tomorrow is. I’m just gonna go out there and have fun and leave it all out there for Sooner nation and for my teammates and for Khadeem.”

“Right now my focus is on this team and all that, but right after the season, I’ll sit down with my family and we’ll discuss my future,” Young said.

I know that's not very telling, but for now, it's what he's saying to media.

The Long Island Medium should visit this board.

He is gone. He doesn't like the situation or Kruger. Hopefully they can get hot on make a run this post season!!!

This is why I think he should/will leave.

Agreed. Just look at him go to the end of the bench when he is rested. Watch how little he interacts with the other guys on the court.

He is 100% gone! I doubt he is ready to play at the next level mostly because of his lack of defense but he will be drafted as high this year as any other. His shoe contract will probably bigger this year than any other because of his hype after the incredible start to the season.
