Both Willie And Ryan could have had guaranteed first round money had they left a year earlier than they did.
Had someone picked Ryan in the 1st round he would have got at least 2 to 3 years in the N.B.A.. You don't get cut after the preseason summer league when your a 1st rounder.
I know they were different players, with different attitudes and played different positions. But they both missed out on the 1st round by returning. But who knows, Minor may not have been drafted in the first round had he entered early. What round did he get drafted in?
Yes, he would have. He was projected to be drafted right smack in the middle of Round One. Staying the extra year caused him to slide to the first half of Round Two - where the money is not guaranteed.
Willie Warren was also projected to be drafted somewhere in the middle of Round One - last year. The only difference was he slid further into the second round than Minor did.
Willie's ability and potential are still on the lottery pick level, lets just see if he can change his attitude. If he does, he could be the best 2nd round pick of the year.
Had Minor been drafted in the 1st round, would that have changed his N.B.A. carreer?
I agree with the OP. I said the same thing the night of the draft. The only comparison is they both cost themselves a lot of money, but it is a good comparison.

This question is really kind of a guess, but if I remember correctly, he was like the 2nd or 3rd pick of the second round. MANY believed he was picked that low BECAUSE he wouldn't completely commit to hoops and they believed he was headed to baseball.
However, IF he had been drafted in the first, there's a good chance he woulda played 10-12 years in the league. He could well have been Wally Szczerbiak...
