Just saw pics of the basketball team in Colorado after scrimmage yesterday

We must have a double secret, death penalty for disclosing information administration. They follow the same policy for softball.
This is shortsighted, frustrating for fans and slights the teams.

Texas had a similar scrimmage with Arizona State about two weeks ago, and from what I gathered they didn't publicize it to their fans much at all either. My guess is the teams wanted a closed practice setting between high caliber teams before the season started.

I don't believe it is supposed to be public knowledge. I think the NCAA will allow teams to have closed scrimmages with another D1 team before the regular season opens. Otherwise it would be considered a game. Sometimes the box scores are leaked, but with no media or fans it is hard to find the outcome.

A closed scrimmage against a really good opponent seems like a great idea. It tells the teams what areas are on track and which ones need improvement without either having a loss on their record. Play Notre Dame, that will tell you what you need to know!

I like the concept too. And I guess it is understandable that it has to be somewhat "under the radar".

Ron, how did you learn about it?

I think the rules state, not sure, but you can have 2 closed scrimmages a season. Take this with a huge grain of salt. ASU played extremely well against the Sooners, however, how much of it did Sherri use as a learning experience and different combinations I don't know, I do know srimmage wise over all the Sooners did not play well.

How does this fit into your horse analogy? It sounds like you're not concerned with the psyche at all, just the record.

The record is important but so is confidence. A scrimmage should be similar to what the team goes through everyday playing against men so that should have no effect on their confidence.

Where do we go to read about all that, Roc?
