I know some of you guys are high on Woodard but he concerns me. From what little I've seen, his handles and his decision making are both in the "needs improvement" category. He needs to improve for this team to win the close games.

Almost every player on this team falls into that category. I believe every single one of them fall into the "will continue to work hard and get better" category.

Did you watch him last year? His decision making and handled were excellent. Played really well yesterday and ok today.

I am confident we will see the "good" J-Wood again for the majority of the year.

Woodard has been the one player that has really disappointed so far. I thought he was really good as a freshman last year but kind of faded at the end of the year. He seems to have started this year in some sort of "sophomore slump." Hope he gets it turned around. Doesn't appear his shot has improved much.

I think we'll continue to see the players improve going forward, they work too hard not to.

He has played a couple good teams. He seems to be getting better to me compared to the first three games.

Sorry if I seem too critical of my fellow posters, but WHOA!!!! To make some of you happy, every OU starter would have to score 30 and have a triple double, and the Sooners would have to win every game by 60. Pump the brakes, guys. Woodward has been fine and will continue to play better as the season progresses.

The irony of these two wins is that we really haven't looked all that good on offense. Woodard did what I wanted him to do today. He helped to prevent them from getting back into the game, and he hit his free throws. Played pretty solid defense. I suspect that if we are counting on him to be a major offensive weapon, we might be in trouble. I haven't seen that side of him. We have others who are supposed to be shooters.

If we play a decent game on offense, we might win this thing.

^^ exactly. It's exciting to see the guys do this well and they havent even come close to the ceiling that we KNOW they can and will hit.

I really think having the crowd get behind them yesterday did something also. They were just SO much more energetic defensively today and you could see how pumped up Buddy was despite Butler focusing on him. You get effort like that going early in the season and you really have something.

My only issue with Woodard is on the defensive end. He has an issue staying in front of quick, penetrating guards. When the opponent's PG blows by him, then it really puts alot of stress on our backend defense.....and we are vulnerable.

On the offensive end, as long as he facilitates the offense (i.e. helps get the ball to our big men), makes FTs and takes care of the ball....that's all we really need out of him. But he is still a work in progress.

I think some of you guys are being overly critical of a kid who is barely in his second season as the point guard at a major D-1 program. Sure, Jordan makes poor decisions and turns the ball over from time to time. It hurts a little more when point guards do it. But, name me a player on our roster who doesn't make mistakes, shoots the ball poorly, takes an occasional play off on defense, commits an ill-advised foul, or turns the ball over at the worst possible time? Besides, he has been so much better the last two games, what he did in the first two shouldn't matter anymore.

There is always plenty of blame when the team loses. When we win ugly, it's not that difficult to find fault. But, Jordan Woodard is one heck of a player in my book. I said last year that I was thrilled to have him on our team, and nothing I have seen this year has caused me to change my mind.

If Woodard was shooting better than 25% from the field and more than 9% from BTA, I suppose the other problems wouldn't stand out so much. But when those are his stats, the ball handling, defense, and play making become more noticeable.

Woodard needs to play better for this team to beat Wisconsin. No one is asking him to go for 20 & 10, but he needs to be more efficient.

Valid point. It would definitely help if his shooting would improve.

The point I was trying to make is that he has been much better in the last two games. He averaged 10 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, plus he only had 1 turnover per game (2 yesterday and none against UCLA), a big improvement over the first two games.

If I was looking for a negative from a point guard perspective, it would be in his assists. Two in the last two games is not very many.

It's 5 games into the season...
