WTF? No votes in AP poll?

If we beat Tech Wednesday (which we should do), then go to Manhattan and play the Cats the way we played them last season, the media will be able to ignore us no longer. Remember, I typed the word "IF."

OU just has to keep winning. If they win the next two they should make the top 25. I think OU has a shot to win the next two.

Beat me to it. I don't think we have done enough to be getting votes yet. Take care of business at home and then pick up a road win then we can talk. Last year our last five games we played against the next five we play we went 1-4 so we need to turn that around.

I just hope we're ranked at the end of the season. That will almost assuredly mean that we've made the Big Dance and that's what I think everyone is shooting for!

Media polls means absolutely nothing in college basketball. Conference record + RPI is the formula.

I think I'd have us borderline Top-25 at this point. I don't have a problem with us not getting votes. We keep improving and we will soon enough!

39 teams got votes in the AP. I'm surprised we're not one of them, although often the teams at the end of the list just get ranked by one (often homer) voter.

Questions:

1. Would you vote OU in today's Top-25 if you had a vote?

2. Does OU actually have the potential to finish this season in the top-25?

******

My answers:

1. No.

2. I think OU's primary weakness (point guard play) greatly diminishes the potential to finish in the top-25 this year. Hope I am proved wrong.

Nevertheless, like many on this board, I am very pleased with the progress in the OU basketball program under the leadership of Coach Kruger.

SoonerTraveler,

I agree with you completely. I would not vote us top 25 right now, although I was a bit shocked to see we didnt get any recognition, especially from Scott Drew, the Big 12 coach who votes in the coaches poll. I think the next 4 games will determine how good we actually are

Why do you say this? Grooms is a very good pg he just isn't a huge scoring threat. Gotlieb earned all Big XII honors without being a scoring threat. I am not saying Grooms is an All Big XII level pg but he is certainly good enough to lead a top 25 team and presumably Kruger thinks Hornbeak is better because he starts Hornbeak.

If we wouldn't have lost to SFA we would be receiving votes.
