That we had 20+ turnovers, 20 less shots and were pulverized on the boards against the No. 9 team in the country and were 0.01 of a second from winning, right?

I've seen so much negativity on here. Yes, we played poorly. But it's really damn hard to beat a good team three times in a season and we were that close to doing it.

I'm encouraged if we can play that poorly and be that close to beating a projected 3-seed on a neutral floor.

Though in the last few minutes I thought the crowd was decidedly in our favor, which was cool.

Anyways, people don't appreciate how good this team is enough, they just moan and groan. If we play like that against WVU next season, anywhere, we'll lose by 20. Incredible we had a chance to win.

I was saying the same things. They had a gameplan that was genius against Buddy. He didn't hit shots either, but it had to do with them being in his head and frustrating him. We played one of our worst games and were a 1/10th of a second from winning. I hate losing as much as the next person, but an extra day of rest will do this team some good. Boomer Sooner!

Last night still stings an awful lot, but for most of us I'm sure that disappointment will dissolve and will be replaced with excitement once we know who OU's playing in the first round.

As I've mentioned in another post... what I realize is that after watching college basketball for the past 3 decades the full court press allows for foul insensitivity when playing the game in front of human beings who are reffing your game.

Ticky tack bumps that cause you to dribble the ball of your leg or step out of bounds is a foul in a neatly contested game but is not a foul if the game is rugby style.

So as a result you have to even up the fairness of the game and play up on them as well to ticky tack some turnovers right back. That's where West Virginia took the game to OU. You can't let a team pressure you and not pressure them unless we have robot refs who's definition of a foul isn't changed from game to game.

So many ticky tack fouls are made that disrupt everything and they aren't called when the game has an overabundance of these. We need robot refs to combat this problem. :D

Agreed. We played pretty badly for the first 35 minutes and nearly won the game. With all the whining about how the refs and the timekeeper stole the game from us, there's not enough acknowledgement of how well we played down the stretch, how well James and Lattin played last night, or how we nearly beat West Virginia with Buddy only scoring a handful of points.

OU is a much better team than many people on this board realize or are willing to admit.

This team has flaws but it's a really good team, not great but really good.

I was part of a high school coaching staff and our head coach always talked about how you have to use the pieces you have to maximize your team. There are always things you don't have but maximize what you do and roll with it.

You can't teach toughness and this group never gives up. And if we had 1 thing go right in the last minute of that game we win and Buddy's half court shot wouldn't have even been needed.

It is tough to beat a good team 3 times. On the other hand one would think we would be more prepared than prior games and not have 20+ turnovers.

I'm not encouraged that we played that poorly, loss is a loss..

This thread was like a breath of fresh air inside a cesspool of stinky (well, right up until those last two posts).

I'm very proud of the way this team fought back in the last 10 minutes. I expect to see the Sooners make a run in the tournament. Sometimes a loss is much more than a loss.

This is tournament time. There is no bright side to a loss. This lost cost a big 12 tourney title. The next loss costs us a national title. That's it. Game over.

You can't learn from these now. You can learn during the regular season. To be encouraged that we can be that close after playing poorly and barely lose does nothing for us. We're out. No title. This is it. We play that poorly again and goodbye seniors.

6 games to win it all. We either play better or we go home.

Has your life always been so miserable?

No. It's a loss. You can see it however you want but in the end we loss.

Maybe Baylor should be glad that they only loss by 3 points after being down more than 10 points the whole game.

It's not one game that has me concerned. It's since the end of January.

You were probably mad Buddy made that shot and happy it didn't count. Because, after all, we wouldn't have deserved to win, right?

Give me a break with all this and enjoy the best OU team in more than a decade. Or don't, whatever.

We do not pass well enough to be great.
If we were a good passing team, then TO's would have been much lower.
We would have attacked the press and got much better shots up.

I don't understand what you guys are talking about. We won. I saw it. Buddy mad the shot - even ran into the stands celebrating. I was busy so I turned off the TV.

I know we won. I saw it myself. Don't confuse me.

Makes more sense than some of what I'm reading on here anyway. ;)

I was pretty hard spangler last night and i need to take a step back. I was so into that game and wanted the win soo bad i put it on spanglers missed free throws. Man i couldnt sleep last night. What a game and we almost pulled it off. I love ou basketball and love it more than football. I know im different then most but i grew up loving basketball. I live in kansas and my parents r big ku fans, but when i was a kid i just loved watching ryan minor play that i started following OU every since. I wanted a shot a KU one more time and was very disappointed last night. Mayb we will get our shot at them in the big dance. Boomer!
