You know who hates recruiting Oklahoma even more than Jeff Capel?

Travis Ford.

He hasn't signed a single player from Oklahoma his entire time at O-State, and IIRC showed no interest in guys like Tyler Neal, Amric Fields, Ryan Spangler, Josh Richardson etc. I'm don't think he has indicated much of an interest in Jordan Woodard or Stevie Clark either, but I might be wrong about that.

Does anyone know why this is?

If Kruger can lock down the Oklahoma guys, it will be a huge step towards regaining our superiority in the state of Oklahoma.

If those 4 names are evidence of why Ford SHOULD have recruited Oklahoma the last two classes, then you answered your own question.

I know he's offered and actively recruiting Juwan Parker, who is in the class of 2013, but he might be Tulsa all the way.

I didn't think Capel hated recruiting Oklahoma all that much. He brought in Blake, Cade, Neal and Hardrick didn't he? Kelvin got a lot of his players from out of state, too.

You think OSU is too good for Tyler Neal or Ryan Spangler? Ooookay.

Based on bloodlines alone OU and Ok. State need to push hard for him. Jason was the epitome of a great student athlete, and his parents are real sharp as well (I think his dad is still a law professor at TU).

I wouldn't be shocked if Juwan was in the same mold.

Karron Johnson >>> Ryan Spangler.

Agree totally #sarcasm

If looking at basketball talent alone, Johnson 100%. I'd take Spangler now, because OSU needs a post, but now he's off the table. But, back in November, they only had two scholarships to give. They gave them to Nash and Johnson.

I don't think Ryan Spangler is a better basketball player than Karron Johnson.

Talent wise yes.

Lets put it this way.

Troubled juco prospect who is quite talented but is at his 5th school in 6 years or whatever it is or good quality local banger who you know isn't trouble?

My problem is he showed absolutley no interest in Neal until his team fell apart last spring, and we were incredibly lucky that Neal waited around to make his decision. If he hadn't, he'd be playing elsewhere right now, just like Ryan Spangler will be next season.

Why wouldn't the coach at OU and OSU give every potential d-1recruit in the state of Oklahoma a legitimate look? If nothing else it builds goodwill when that coach has a high level d-1 recruit so long as you don't mislead the kid. It would be bad to act highly interested and never offer but a serious look at instate kids seems like common sense to me.

OSU dont need to recruit in oklahoma if they getting guys like LeBryan Nash, I would love to have that kid at Oklahoma

Some coaches see Oklahoma kids as not having faced the competition. With AAU I would think it isn't the case any more. Lock-up the Oklahoma kids, and then supplement. Do better than anybody before.

Billy sgned Wayman Tisdale...but he didn't sign Mark Price or Steve Hale.

Kelvin signed and lost Humphrey and Alexander for what ever reason..Bookout and Taylor Griffin were huge..but he lost way more than he signed...sure to Duke and Kentucky and Kansas...but he should have been able to pull in one.

Lon Kruger is sending a message to Oklahoma HIgh School players..we want you at OU.

i would've liked having fields over thompson. but having that scholly available in '12 instead of '14 might not be so bad.

Ditto for Billy as well. The coach that ignored in state recruits was Bliss.

If Capel doesn't get credit for landing Blake Griffin.....Travis Ford doesn't get credit for landing Nash(LUCK). I don't think Nash is going to pan-out anyways. He doesn't have the attitude like Griffin or James Anderson.
