Zach Peters transferring from KU?

Why doesn't he get to stay on scholarship and finish his education? I thought when guys got hurt the schools had a way to keep them on scholarship and not count it against the limits? If they don't they should.

If a guy risks his physical well being for a school the least the NCAA could do is allow them to get a free education when they are truly injured. 4 concussions in a about a year along with the shoulder should certainly meet any reasonable standard the NCAA might set.

I know that schools can do that, but I don't know what the medical requirements are.

As an aside, I just noticed in the article I posted that Zach Peters is not the only player who has health issues. Julius Randle is on the sidelines for the next three months with a fractured foot.

quoteJulius Randle, a 6-9, 240-pound senior from Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas, will be sidelined the next three months because of a fractured right foot. Randle, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Class of 2013 has a final list of KU, Kentucky, N.C. State, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma
Peters problems are a lot more serious, though. Looks like his basketball career may be over completely. I feel bad for the kid!

I don't think the issue is that he couldn't stay on scholarship as much as the fact that he just wanted to go home during this time.
