Was it caused by his shoe falling apart or did his shoe fall apart due to him slipping?

I heard coach Williams was seen prior to the game over in Duke's locker room. Anyway it was a good game to watch (for me) the passing, ball movement and overall play was top notch by (UNC)

Are Nike shoes "Made in China?"

There is a lot of weight and torque put on athletic shoes, especially by large basketball players. I wonder how often a shoe "gets blown out" like that in the thousands of high school basketball games played in a given day.

Obviously, it makes the news when it contributes to an injury to a high profile player like Zion. Most of the time, a blown-out shoe does not make a headline.

Scottie Pippin jinxed him.... Before the injury Pippin was saying he shouldn't play for Duke anymore because he is putting his future in jeopardy. Seems like a lot of the old vets (McGrady, Pippin, Paul Pierce, etc) all agree Zion shouldn't be playing.... and this was before the injury.

The injury was unfortunate as Zion is a beast, but watching Puke get punked at home always makes for a good night.

Things happen.

We all have shoes that wear out and we are a tad below 6’8 280lbs

Why the distinction?

Just curious. I'd never seen a shoe disintegrate like that before.

I've seen lots of players lose their shoes in a game. I always figured it was because they didn't tie them as tightly as they should have. I wonder if that was a factor in this instance.
