I think we all like Maddie's length, passing skills, and drive penetration. I also suspect Sherry is being very careful in bringing her along.
I agree that she may have slightly hurt her knee in the first game in the Paradise Jam. She played 7 minutes in that game - which is almost 20% of the 40 minute game. She only played 5 minutes against Kentucky - even with so many girls on the bench with fouls. Then only played 1 minute against Illinois - with 1 steal and no turnovers or other mistakes.
Clearly she wasn't "benched" due to errors against Illinois. So either Sherry didn't feel good about her playing a third game in 3 days in the middle of a comeback from 2 serious injuries or she saw something else we have not noticed. Who knows - but my bet is she plays more minutes as we go forward.
I liked the idea that Sherry may be wanting to bring her along very slowly so she will be healed and healthy in future years.
