... and all those shots were from 3 with a few of them being contested. Shot selection doomed us down the stretch.

This is the same problem we have in every close game. Kruger needs to call more plays during these stretches.

We panicked and they executed. We just don't know how to finish games and yes did we even call 1 play at that point ?

Plays were fine, it's shot selection. The 3's we threw up the final four minutes for the most part were terrible decisions or rushed shots. For once, OU was getting in the lane, getting fouled and stopping the clock. For example, the play we ran out of the timeout to get Buddy on the wing w/ a switch resulted in a foul 25ft from the bucket. That's a good play.

Mental miscues such as court, time and situation recognition is what this team lacks at critical moments. Those win/lose you games on the road.

I think fatigue had to be a factor too. OU just is not very deep, and had to burn up a lot of energy on that comeback. KU, on the other hand, was able to rest guys like Oubre and Alexander for long stretches in the 2nd half so they were fresh and effective late in the game. To me, that was a big difference in the last 4 minutes.

Great point.

Thomas was off, Walker was uninspiring in the first half...w/o Bennett we likely don't make it all the way back. Kruger staggered his TOs the best he could from the 16min media on, even trying to buy more time around the under 8.

This. The biggest problem this team has is "between its ears" this year. There just hasn't really been any consistent, noticeable improvement in situational awareness from this team. And you really need that need if you're going to beat good teams away from home.

Add Lattin to Thomas and Walker, and it's pretty apparent that OU's newcomers simply were not ready for that environment. I don't know what a coach can do to better prepare players for a place like Phog Allen, but I wish we'd figure something out. You need all hands on deck if you expect to get a win against a team like KU, but those 3 were just overwhelmed last night. That put a big strain on team that already had a bit of a depth problem.

You have to rely on your more experienced players to calm the ship, know when to go and when to pull it out. Unfortunately, Hield/Cousins/Woodard struggle with this.

I wish Spangler could handle the ball.

We need to learn how to win! Now that sounds funny but winning is an attitude and in the close games we don't have that "Win" at all cost. It will come and then we will blow people out.
