#1 reason that this is Trae's fault

this is not the NBA. this is college ball. Trae needs to play defense just like the others on this team need to play defense. In fact he should be setting the example.
 
hey coolm Lon does not want Trae to foul out or get in foul troble because if you noticed they need him. The team should bear downand learn how to grind out a win when trae is struggling with his shot. This is last yr. team and you see the results. No real changes. I hope they make the ncaa tourney or nit and learn from this year.

It would be if those plays alone cost the game. But no one on this team does those plays correctly either...

so the rest of the team should bear down and play hard defense, leaving it on the floor, while their leader plays matador? mature players might have that discipline, newbs do not. we had no leadership last year so it should have been obvious they'd be looking for it this season. he sets the tone and that tone has been a soft one.
 
Our team D is horrible.

We don't guard guards on the perimeter with "in your face" D like others do us which causes a lot of issues...such as:

The wings collapse ANYTIME someone drives...

which then leaves wide open 3 pt shooters or...

our "shot blocking bigs" step up and the driver just dishes it off to their post


I'd agree, TY plays horrible D, but most of the team does, but TY really doesn't show ANY effort at all...sad.

and I am not sure what it is we're saving our energy for either. it's not like we get worn down on offensive sets of effort there.

I'd rather get beat by ft's because we're trying on defense than have 3 after 3 dropped on us because we won't even try to close out. Have we had a single knee burn this season? I can't think of a single one in a game. we undervalue possessions on both ends of the floor.

Damn straight! At this point, I would rather we rough up the other team and get some fouls called on us as opposed to sitting back and letting them pick us apart. I don't think anyone would have a problem with this team holding their heads high after a loss...so long as they were fighting their ass off for 40 minutes and making the other team earn it.

Just because an announcer has repeatedly said this does not make it true. Let’s assime this was true when OU was ranked number 4, don’t you think Lon Kruger would change his osition. Isn’t it better to risk losing Trae Young and compete in games than get down 20?
 
If Kruger is telling him not to play defense, he is a really bad coach and must be fired. It is a simple question. Joe C should just ask him. Everything I have ever read about Kruger suggests he would answer honestly.

I know. And i don't care about the focus and that's not the discussion here. Were talking about why the team sucks and I'm saying they all suck at defense. And i think its cheap for gottlieb to pick on one player and act like his defense alone is why we're losing instead of everyone's

They didn't all suck at defense a year ago. It's easy to notice how much better we are on the offensive end because of Trae but we are equally if not more so worse on the defensive end.
