That's exactly what your post is...a guess. You have no clue because you just jumped on the KU bandwagon in the mid 90's when Roy was rolling along. You probably also like the Yankees, Patriots, and Lakers, I'd guess.

KU fans (and fans of every other Big 8 school) didn't like Tubbs because he beat them and that's the whole deal right there. Not only did he beat them, he destroyed most teams by double digits, even KU was on the losing end of a few beatings.

I jumped on the bandwagon in the 90's when "Roy was rolling along". :ez-roll: Umm, KU has always been "rolling along" not starting in the '90s. I love arrogant posts like this calling some other fans arrogant.
I agree with you about KU and Big 8 fans not liking Tubbs because he beat them and destroyed teams. Totally agree. Why you think all the hate on KU? Been sayin' that for years. Why you think all the hate on Duke?
I like being hated. Means your team is damn good.

Translation: Fluke win

That's quite possible....but the entire "OU would have won if it wasn't in KC" argument is weak. KU had the best coach and best player on the floor. OU had the better team...I just think they were a bit c0cky and overconfident going in. I blame Tubbs for that but that's Tubbs attitude.

I agree. I don't think OU would have definitely won anywhere else, saying that like you said is weak... but it was a crappy situation having to play a team OU had already beaten a couple times virtually in that team's backyard. Those are quite the arduous obstacles to overcome. OU came close to doing it, but couldn't. Give credit to KU for taking advantage of the favorable situation handed to them.

Kansas was NOT better that night. The officiating permitted Manning to get away with crap. But, King blocked two shots of Mannings very cleanly, only to be called for fouls on each. They obviously didn't think that anyone could block the great Manning's shot, once from behind as Manning brought the ball back over his head. Disgusting officiating that occurred where---?

Yep, refs lost the game. First time I've heard that one here about a game. :ez-laugh:

I'll try to explain the contempt that I have for the officiating and Kansas after that game. I always root for the KU opposition, no matter who the opponent. If they were to play the Taliban, I would wear a turban and root for the Taliban. That game disgusted me totally.

I'd rather here about the contempt of Billy Tubbs refusal to sub. That's what lost the game. You can't play your bench a total of 7 minutes in a fast paced, pressure intensive national championship game. Quite possibly the worst coaching move in the history of college basketball. The blame should be on Tubbs.

Tubbs didn't let Manning get away with foul after foul. Know where I can buy a turban?

Did Tubbs sub in the other games vs KU that year? Poor Stacey King and Harvey Grant were physically exhaused how would you expect them to be able to play with Manning that long without a blow.
Please explain the logic of playing your bench 7 minutes in a game. One guy, 7 minutes. Amazing to me. I remember even thinking that during the game as the OU guys looked exhaused. Now you know why Milt Newton & Kevin Pritchard were able to out play OU's guards.

Just explain the fouls that weren't called on Manning. I'm not interested in any discussion other than that. Know where I can buy a turban?

You have no clue. Were you a north Carolina fan back then?

Ou was in superior condition that year. The loss had nothing to do with fatigue. The starters played a lot in every game and before the season tubbs hired an aerobics instructor to work with the team. They didn't need more than 7 players.

The only way you could blame Tubbs was because he was tight for probably the only time in his life. The team picked up on that and was tight too. It didn't help they were playing ku in a road game and the refs helped ku as much as they always have in kc.

As for tubbs sub rotation, don't question it because you know nothing of what you speak.

Played KU in a road game? They beat KU in Lawrence but can't beat them in Kansas City. They played the bench more than 7 minutes in Lawrence. They didn't in KC. You admit Tubbs and the team was tight. KU was not. That's coaching and not choking.

Which fouls you speak of?
The fouls where he was stealing the ball from guards and forwards, where he was reaching over people's backs to get rebounds, where he was "blocking shots." According to the officials, he was superman, and they didn't believe in kryptonite. He changed the game entirely, with his non-fouls. Of course, it was in KC, after OU had beaten KU twice rather soundly during the season. I would even buy a turban for the Taliban players.

I'd have subbed and got someone fresh in if Manning was playing too tough.
Manning had nearly 3 times as many rebounds as King. Chris Piper out rebounded Harvey Grant. KU just wanted it more.
