Don't hold back on your true feelings! :clap :clap

What was especially galling about that Final 4 was that OU was the universally despised "villain." The other three teams, Dook, KU and Arizona, pretty much billed themselves as being so pure, you'd have thought they traveled on the Good Ship Lollipop (especially Dook and the Beakers).

So true about OU being billed as the villain but funny that KU was slapped with probation and barred from the '89 tournament. No wonder Larry Brown scurried out of town so fast .

Some of Big Old Booger's best in this thread.

You don't explain it because they didn't. They hit more shots because they were hot that night, but for you to surmise they "outplayed" Blaylock and Grace is as ludicrous as a KU fan getting to post on an OU board.

Pritchard and Newton were "hot"? When the other teams players are "hot" wouldn't you do something different defensively?
Mookie had a good game. He always did. I loved Mookie. Grace was bad though for him. He got outplayed.

I keep telling you, OU didn't play much of their bench that year. THEY WERE NOT TIRED. CAN YOU GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL? They played most every minute of every game. OU only had 3 subs that played much -- Wiley, Martin and Mullins
Well they certainly looked that way. I can still see Stacey King bent over pulling on the front of his short shorts because he was tired. I'm not saying play the bench a ton of minutes. Spot minutes to give guys a blow. Emotionally it's a big game and guys need quick blows. Wiley and Martin should have played 5-6 minutes and probably makes the difference in the game. It's just my opinion. Why not get your big guns a quick breath in a fast paced high intensity game?

To state it again, Tubbs didn't use his bench very much. He had 3 lottery picks, why would he pull them out of the game in the biggest game of the year? Why pull them when they got him to that point? That's something your favorite coach Roy Williams would do and that's why he never won a championship at KU. If you were watching Big 8 basketball back then instead of the ACC you would know this. So, for you to continue to assert that the loss is Tubbs fault because he didn't use his bench just makes you look dumber than I thought anyone could possibly be.

And Tubbs never won a national championship at OU by not subbing in the national championship. What's your point? And why you bring up that I'm a bandwagon KU fan is comical. You resorting to that and name calling me is silly. And to think people want to comment how KU fans are bad and arrogant. Sheesh.

No, you don't speak facts. You speak about something of which you have no clue because you were a North Carolina fan back then, or you were too busy watching the Pistons, Yankees, and whichever other bandwagon teams you chose to root for.
More of the same nonsense. Classy.

And...Chris Piper has never and will never outplay Harvey Grant. He didn't outplay him that night and for you to assert otherwise is flat out ignorant. Get a clue before you post about something. Thanks.

I don't even know where to start with this. Where did I say Chris Piper outplayed Harvey Grant? I said he out REBOUNDED him. He did. It's a statistical fact. And then you say I should get a clue before posting something. Wow.

Considering 3 coaches have more NC's than KU's entire program, I'd say KU's status as a "power" is debatable.
You're right. KU is not a basketball power. And to think I'm the one that doesn't know hoops. :ez-laugh:

I've enjoyed reading others posts in this thread. Yours not so much.

Grace was a very good college point guard. As the PG he was a main reason why they were in the championship game. He was cold that night...he didn't get outplayed.

Well they certainly looked that way. I can still see Stacey King bent over pulling on the front of his short shorts because he was tired. I'm not saying play the bench a ton of minutes. Did you get this idea from Dean Smith when you were previously a UNC fan? Notice this is what Roy did at KU and it cost him some games. You don't take your studs out of the biggest game of the year when they have been conditioned to play 40 minute games. Look at the number of minutes played that year, then get back to me.

And Tubbs never won a national championship at OU by not subbing in the national championship.

Wrong. This had nothing to do with the loss that night. Nothing. Get a clue.

I've enjoyed reading others posts in this thread. Yours not so much.

Because I have facts to disprove what you "think". Sorry.

Never been banned here, only warned and had a number of posts edited.

Never complained about it at Insider -- and was never banned for anything there but football.

Calling out the mods publicly is a not a good way to keep your record clean, that's for sure.

If you have something to complain about, do it the right way next time and use the report feature or PM me. The mods and admins on this board give their time freely so people like you can have a place to discuss OU basketball. Show them the respect they deserve. Is that too much to ask?

Cheno, I haven't read this thread and really don't care to take the time, if you want to know the truth. But if you're getting in a few digs at OU fans for the '88 loss, even in fun, please stop. That's a touchy subject with a lot of us for obvious reasons. I'm still not over it. We both know the best team did not win that year.

People, keep the discussion real if you want it to continue. Thanks in advance for your undying love and affection. :)

I was 8 years old that year. I cried like someone had ripped my toenails out. I still shudder at the name of Hightower because of the obscenities my father yelled at the TV that night. Still hate KU for it. Have a good friend who went to KU, it took me a few years to even trust him.

I don't think any football loss in my lifetime hurts more. As an OU football fan you feel you'll be right back in the hunt next year. As an OU basketball fan you know you get a shot about every 7-10 years, that is, if you're lucky.
