2015-16 Season: Big 12 Teams Personnel

thanks coach ... in which case newsok is a little incorrect .. they said osu hoped to get a waiver ..

Coachtalk is right. Jerreau can play his senior year which is next year because he's graduating from Washington….. he redshirted a year already. He's going to petition for a 6th year after he finishes his normal eligibility after next season (have to wait until after 5th year to petition). He virtually missed all of the 2013-2014 season ….. played in 2 minutes of the first game before his ACL injury. He also missed 10 games last season due to a knee injury.

If you remember, Tyler Evans got a 6th year on the OU football team because he missed 2 years with injuries. I assume the petition for the 6th year will be granted.

He kind of reminds me of an older Jumani McNeace. He was a 6'3" guard going into HS and then grew 7 inches. His weight when he entered Washington was only 190 pounds, so he's added 50 pounds. He should be a big help to OSU. I assume he redshirted as a freshman to gain weight and get stronger….. like McNeace.

LOL..sorry, kind of funny that he reminds you of a player that none of us have really seen play. I understand what you're trying to say though.

He's talking about Jamuni's growth rate, not his game. Jamuni went from a 5' 10" freshman who was cut from his high school team to 6' 7" by the end of his sophomore season.

Amazing every time I see this...

I wonder if that cause him and joint problems.

NOTE: I edited my post to correct Jamuni's height when he was a freshman. He was 5' 10", not 5' 7". Sorry about that!

OSU getting Jernard Jarreau is like adding a 4-star player to your class. He will probably come in and average 10/6 right off the bat. Good production. They need Mitchell Solomon and Anthony Allen to make some jumps from their first seasons last year. Pretty good size now, which isnt common for OSU.

OSU post players
Jernard Jarreau--- 6'10'' 240 (transfer from Washington)
Mitchell Solomon--- 6'9'' 235 (will be a sophomore)
Anthony Allen--- 7'0'' 240 (will be a senior)
Igor Ibaka--- 6'9'' 215(will be a junior)

On the wing they will have:
Tavarius Shine (6'5'' 200)
Joe Burton (6'6'' 215)
Leyton Hammonds (6'7'' 205)
Jeff Carroll (6'6'' 205)

Probably the biggest team they have had under Ford.

Jarreau will have a hard time averaging 10/6 while sitting the bench.

Hammonds and/or Shine will play the 4 the majority of the year. If you argue this then you don't follow Ford and his style of play. He puts a SF at the 4 every year. Nash, Wiliams, Obi, Franklin, Olukemi.

Ada is absolutely right. I was referring to Jamuni's rapid growth rate in HS and his slight frame. Jerreau went thru the same kind of growth spurt, but he's a RS senior whereas Jamaui is a RS freshman. McNeace has come a long way from the short kid that was cut from his HS team as a freshman.

I've attached a fun link talking about late growth spurts by some famous NBA players: Late growth spurts For example, Dennis Rodman went from 5'9" at age 19 to 6'8". David Robinson was 5'9" as a junior in HS and grew to 7' at the Naval Academy.

If he was smart he would go with:

PG: Juwan Evans (McDonalds All American)/Jeff Newberry
SG: Phil Forte (All Big 12)/Jeff Carroll
SF: Tavarius Shine/Leyton Hammonds
PF: Mitchell Solomon/Igor Ibaka
C: Jernard Jarreau/Anthony Allen

Pretty solid squad if Jarreau gives them 10/6 and Evans is legit.

If he was smart is the thing. I totally agree. or even solomon and Allen. If he was Smart he wouldnt have cut Juricks minutes as soon as Williams got healthy or not give himself a rebounding edge by keeping Nash at the 3 or allowing Nash to be guarding by smaller person so that his jump shot wouldn't have been easily contested.

Plus there is still time for Allen to transfer b/c Ford hasn't gone a year as the OSU coach without having a post player transfer.

Kansas State's Tre Harris(6'5 Fr SG) is transferring to SIU-Edwardsville

That is 8 of 11 returning players (assuming they had used all 13 scholarships) being kicked off the team or transferring. How does KSU not fire the coach. Perhaps the better question is how does KSU not fire the AD for hiring Weber.

At some point you have to blame the leader. 72% of the returning team is gone. With the two seniors being gone KSU lost 77% of its team. You just have to fire someone for that. I don't care what his explanation is, it is Weber's fault. I wouldn't be surprised to see some lunatic fan lose it and go postal on the guy. This is so much worse than anything Capel did.

Leyton Hammonds will probably play some PF too... I heard a rumor that he has grown to 6'9''. An OSU friend of mine showed me a picture and he is taller than Mitchell Solomon now.

He will play the majority of his time there. The height is good. But OSU lacks the low post scoring and rebounding. Them playing Nash at the 4 made no sense to me b/c he would catch the ball at 15 foot or beyond and either drive to the hole or take a jump shot. That sounds like a 3 to me. But why not have him at the 3. It would have given them more height, more rebounding, and more defense. And Nash shooting over a guard has to be easier than shooting over a post player.

If Hammonds plays the same way Nash does and doesn't post up then OSU will still continue to have rebounding and post issues.
