'24 NCAA Tourney Discussion Thread

I don’t know what you’re talking about. The SEC was laughed at about 10 years ago because they were Kentucky and Florida and nothing else. Over the last 10-15 years, SEC basketball has transformed into one of the top conferences with elite athletes and great coaches.

The Big12 has proven to be overrated this year while the SEC and ACC are underrated.
People on this board were absolutely trashing the SEC after the first round of the tourney, and people have argued for two years that we will have an easier time once we move leagues.

OU's faired better vs SEC teams in recent years,

Arkansas was blown out by OU this year.

Last year they blew out Alabama which was considered the best team in the country and points in the season last year. And that was a bad Oklahoma offensive team. This years team was far better if you look at just about every metric. Also easily beat Florida. Did lose to Arkansas in a game that was not really that competitive.

Year before beat Arkansas and Florida. Lost to Auburn although that game was actually closer than the score indicated. OU was in that game till like 10 minutes left. That Auburn team was one of the top teams in the country for most of that regular season.

The previous 2 years were easily the least athletic OU teams we've had.

oh i definitely laughed at the sec. auburn losing to yale. kentucky out in the first. alabama is playing out of their minds, and i picked tennessee to get to final four. all that to say my teeth aren’t chattering as we move to the sec.

y’all, in the nc state vs texas women’s game, they realized they had been playing the regional with the 3 point line at a greater distance on one side than the other. lol. again with the disrespect from the ncaa.

Dalton Knecht came to play early.

Would love to see Purdue lose here.

If not, I can deal with an eventual Clingan vs Edey matchup.
goodness i would love to see that big man matchup. and i bet many scouts would love to see how edey plays against clingan.

Would be a basketball version of Godzilla vs King Kong.

Knecht might shoot enough to lead the Vols to a W here....kid is in a great rhythm.

Eady has been ridiculous in this run. Kinda fun to see a throwback like him. The NBA doesn't even really try to do this with post players anymore.

Bama isn’t playing out of their minds. They have been a top 10ish team all year according to metrics.

Looks like Purdue is gonna make the final four. Good to see you can still make that run with one dominant big man in today's version of basketball where it's almost illegal to be a traditional big man.

Wow Eady just erased a shot and put this one away for good.

Refs are trying to put Duke back in it but NC State can't miss.

I've lost so much money betting against NC State the last two weeks...

Luckily, I've been very good on the rest of the field.

That is not a goal tend he got it before it hit the glass.

I remember NC State 1983. They had to win 3 in a row at the ACC tournament to make the NCAAs. They got shipped out west, won some unbelievable games, beat Virginia and Ralph Sampson in a rematch to get to the Final Four. They then beat Georgia and then won that immortal game against Houston to win the national championship. I was for Houston that night. I'll never forget it. As great of a run as it was, they did have four future NBA players on that team.

This NC State run (if they don't blow it in the next 4 minutes) is even better. They had to win 5 games in 5 days to win the ACC tournament, earn the automatic bid, and save their coach's job. In the process, they were tied with 9-21 Louisville with less than 5 minutes left in the game before winning. Later, in the semifinals, their guy hit a bank shot at the buzzer to force overtime against Virginia and eventually win. So many things that could have gone wrong in this run, and they haven't. Simply unbelievable. 10th seed in the ACC tournament, 11th seed in the South regional.

Nice having non traditional teams in the final four not counting UConn.
