25-26 SEC Projections

Also flying under the radar probably because guys like Nwankwo and Jones didn’t play last season, so hard for CBB media to know what to expect from them

I think I agree with you but that is a LOW bar. And it also depends on Rogers as a freshman outproducing Godwin as we stand today because we haven’t really added anyone else
that is not really the calculation way more wague and Rogers being better then tons of sam and a little of wague and luke ..

and i think that is very likely

I'm with you.

We all knew what we would get with Godwin. Wague could take a leap and Rogers will gradually get better (in theory).

FWIW, Rothstein moved us into his top 40 (at number 39). He includes all three portal signees, and has all of them starting. He has Jones and Wague as the other starters. He does not include Reid (obviously, since he hasn't announced his decision).

Would assume that moves us inside top 30 with Reid because of his potential. I think we're better than that even because few teams can roll out a guard tandem like Pack and Brown. With Reid, Jones, Nwankwo, and Davis, we'll have a stronger 3/4 spot than almost every team we play. That roster, to me, is a top 20 roster with a chance to improve based on contributions from Forsythe, Rogers, etc. Still guessing game at the 5...

I seriously doubt Reid will move us up 10+ spots. The three guys we already have are all established players with much longer and better track records, and with all three of them, we barely cracked the top 40. He updates the list daily, so if Reid chooses us, we will see how much he moves the needle. I'd expect a modest bump, but nothing drastic.

I think it’s a top 25 roster. Reid sat behind some good ones at bama. Didn’t want to wait any longer. He may not start here either but let’s not tell him that!

If the 5 star Reid were committing as a freshman. We’d be making some noise for top 25.

We're low at 39, and Reid gives you the "star power / visibility" that you need to get an honest look at your roster. I bet we move inside the top 30 with Reid.

That's your opinion that we are "low" at 39. I'll wager that Rothstein knows more about the rosters of every college team than anyone on this board, certainly myself included. And I don't know how you would consider Reid more of a "star" than Pack (the original poster child for NIL who has had multiple good to great seasons), or even Brown, who some are saying is one of the 10 best guards in the portal.

Of course it's my opinion. The same way it's Rothstein's opinion that we're 39, and your opinion that Rothstein knows more about the rosters than anyone on this college board. Reid is a star because he was a top 10 player out of high school a year ago, would be our highest rated portal player by a number of services. On 247, for instance, adding Reid will move our portal class into the top 7 or 8.

I’ve thought this too. Maybe they’ll just be average players, but I have some expectations for both, especially Nwankwo.

Unless I misunderstood your original comment, you predicted that adding Reid would cause Rothstein to move us into HIS top 30. So for purposes of that conversation, his opinion is the only one that matters, which is why I said it’s highly unlikely one additional player will vault us 10 or more spots.

And yes, I’m completely confident he knows the rosters of college basketball teams better than any of us do. It’d be silly to think otherwise. Whether you agree/disagree with him, or like/dislike him, the man watches college basketball virtually around the clock for five months. I watch a lot of games and consider myself a knowledgeable fan, but I don’t get spend several dozens of hours per week watching games, interviewing players and coaches, etc. Like a lot of people on this board, I’ve never even seen Brown play, and while I saw ND play Rutgers in November, I wouldn’t have been able to pick Davis out of a lineup till word got out that OU was in on him. I bet if you asked Rothstein right now to name the backup two man at every power conference team, he could do it in a matter of seconds. I’d also guess almost none of us could even name three starters on many teams.

None of this is to say your opinion doesn’t matter or that experts are always right and fans are always wrong. But again, if the question is how Reid will move us in his individual rankings, I’d think it will make a smaller impact than you think. And I agree with you fully that we may end up as one of the top 10 portal classes. But we return very little production from last year, and our high school class lags behind a lot of programs, which is why I’d guess he and others don’t have us rated as high as some here would prefer.
