3 pt. shooting

How bout this for a statistic: We are one of two teams (Cal is the other) that has two losses, yet is still in the top 25 poll.

I don't care if we miss every three, so long as we stop losing!

I'd like to believe that during the recruiting process, the coach considered the range of shots taken. If high school coaches are TRULY preparing the high school player for an opportunity to play at the college level, then there should be development to include shooting from the college three point range by the time the player is a junior.

High school coaches can't see past running their own plays in practice over and over much less know or worry about getting a girl ready for college. You have to use personal bkb trainers for that. Most high school coaches don't even return college coaches calls or tell the athlete or parent that a college coach called. Happens in select ball as well. This information coming from high school parents talking. The girls game gets the bottom of the barrel of coaches. Most of the good to great hs coaches go to the boys game or wind up as an assistant college coach.

Maybe I'm an old fart but it's not hard to prepare a girl with talent to succeed. Teach them fundamentals. Step to pass, step to catch. Dribble with your head up and both hands. Ball handling skills. Rebound with your body and your feet. Play defense with your feet. Proper form on a jump shot. Learn to shoot with both hands. Like I said I know this sounds so 1970 but I think it still works today. I've coached grade school to HS girls and my practices were pretty much the same.

Watch any college game and just see how many times the girls do something they should have learned when they were ten.
