Exactly. NORMALLY/compared to most programs...when the win record such as OU had STARTS a consistent decline, the losses are cut while they are ahead (before scraping the bottom of the conference). Minimally, the coach will take a reduction in salary with incentives built in to recoup that lost income...in other words, prove his/herself. Or the coach will move on to an administrative position and maintain some level of integrity.
This situation is completely ABNORMAL comparatively speaking. Some of us might remember when SC got her big raise along with all of the assistants. More than likely many bonuses were paid as well. Some may not realize that many top 20 players wanted to come to OU as late as the class of 2012 (sign or transfers) but were not able to get an offer and word traveled faster than the speed of light. A few top players signed along the way, most left and the wins slowly but surely decreased as the talent decreased. AND Baylor/others realized you need strong post players to compete at a winning level. The game continually evolves. A smart coach keeps up with and adjust.
The powers that be must have their hands tied behind their backs IMHO because what has occurred defies all business sense, marketing sense (no camps), human resources sense (nepotism) and competitive sense. And Austin (Director of Ops) is supposed to be a marketing guru, right? The team website still touts his duties to include the coordination of summer basketball camps...
"Austin manages the team's finances, plans official visits for potential student-athletes and coordinate the summer basketball camps." They haven't had a basketball camp in at least 10 years.

There's a camp for every dang thing at OU (including wrestling and cheer) EXCEPT WBB. That's recruiting 101-A !! Everyone has a camp except Geno. If Mulkey is running a camp, every WBB program in the conference should as well if you want to compete at the top.

I became convinced that Spock was right last year when he said SC would complete her contract through 2023. The only thing one can clearly do at this point is send your financial support elsewhere and don't burn gas going to those games whenever they start up again. I saw this day coming when they were going to Final Fours. But I did think SC would have been gone on to an admin position by now. Go figure!
