5-1

If you think ORU home court advantage was tough...can't wait til we go on the road in the big 12.

If we're talking about Duke or KU winning by 1 at ORU, all these points and posts and concerns are warranted. We are in the 2nd year of a major rebuilding job, not only of our program but of these kids psyches as far as where the line between winning close and losing close lies. Baby steps. It isn't going to be easy and pretty. I'm confident though.

No one stated that the ORU home court was the toughest place we'll play -- or any statement close to that.

What was pointed out was the difference between last year's score and this year's, and where the game was played is certainly a factor to be considered when comparing scores.

And your other argument, that OU is the toughest team ORU faced during that 25-game stretch?

They beat an Akron team last year that finished 22-12 and went to the NIT. Which is better than we did last year (and better than you seem to feel we'll do this season).

I think you're giving us excuses for barely beating ORU.

No one was is happy with the way we won. I think his point is that we shouldn't let how we won make us think that it wasn't a quality win still.

And I think you're looking for every way you can to view this team in a negative light.

I've made no promises about how good this team is going to be. I don't have any idea. I'm not thrilled with our performance to date, but I'm pretty darned happy we're 5-1. I've been following sports -- primarily OU sports -- for more than forty years, and I learned long ago not to judge any team this early in this season. I also learned long ago that any win -- every win -- is a good win.

We started out 9-1 last year. Look at where that got us.

Why do you continue to downplay a win over ORU? Forget their 24 game win streak at home. ORU has been pretty good the past five or six years, at home and away from the comfortable environment of the Mabee Center.

Among the teams that took the Golden Eagles lightly and it cost them in the last few years: Utah, Mizzou, New Mexico, USC, Tulsa, Texas Tech, Seton Hall, Georgetown, SMU, Okie State and the mighty Kansas Jayhawks, in Lawrence no less.

This ORU team may not be on the same level as the team that upset #3 ranked KU in the Allen Field House a few years back. But it's not like OU beat a second-rate school with no history of winning games against the big boys either, especially on their home floor.

Why not be happy with the win and quit searching for ways to find fault with everything Kruger does, even after a win of all things? I wasn't thrilled with OU's performance at ORU. I'm also not the one who is still complaining about it.

ORU is 3-4 and we won by 1.

I hope this strategy of playing these young players pays off b/c if it doesnt, we blew a chance to make the tournament. And if we dont make it, its falls on Kruger 100%.
I expected us to be a lot better than last year but I didn't expect to have 3 new starters...and I personally don't like what I am seeing. I personally think that we looked a lot better last year, before we lost Newell, than we do now.

Really?

But we did lose Newell. Who else should be playing that isn't? What's the point of adding depth if it's not only young (nothing we can do about that), but inexperienced (there is something we can do about that, and Coach Kruger's doing it)?

We could have played Grooms, Pledger, Fitz, Neal and Osby sixty minutes per game to date, and our record would be no better than it is. The only difference would be that we'd have a bunch of young players on the bench who hadn't seen any game action. What's gained from that?

Well, alrighty then. Maybe you should stop by Lon's office and let him know. I'm sure he will be happy to hear from you. :ez-laugh:

Your acting like every team automatically puts freshmen in their starting lineups just so their bench isnt young. You don't see the top schools sitting their returning starters for freshmen just so their bench isnt inexperience or young...their freshmen start b/c they are good enough to start.

Who gives a crap if they started last year?

I guess the new starters can enjoy these close calls against crappy teams.

And its not about if they started last year...its about last years starting 5 is better than this years starting 5

If you are smart, you'll listen to Ada.

If I listen to you guys...I would think that beating 2 teams that we beat by 35 pts last year and only beat by a combine 5 pts this year is a sign that we are better team.

Judgements like that are best left until the season is over.

My judgement is willing to change over the course of the season. I would love to change my view on how good we are in a few games if things change but right now, we don't look good.
