+++#9 Oklahoma (12-2, 2-1) vs. #8 Texas Tech (14-1, 3-0)+++

Must win game if we want a chance at the conference title IMO. There's still a long ways to go, but with how tough the Big 12 is, we can't afford to fall 2 games behind Tech with the harder game in Lubbock still to play.

Gotta defend home court. Get it done guys!

I wouldn't call it a must-win, but it is really important if OU wants to win the conference. It's more important than the WVU game was because it's a home game. Plus, Tech's already got a huge road win in the bank. Winning at OU would give them a huge leg up toward winning the title.

I really couldnt care less about a conference title. But I can see how that might be a goal of others and perhaps even the team. That is a reasonable, concrete goal.

I am more concerned about them developing enough to match their potential come March. Thats what they'll be remembered for - and it will be their finish that matters. I know all the arguments about better record, better see etc... but I am talking about development. I want to see if we're progressing after what we learned at WVU against a tough defensive opponent when we're on our home court. I wanna see the adjustments in the kids' heads and their play and what adjustments coach Lon is making. I wanna see how Doolittle is coming along. The end result isn't as important to me as the manner in which it happens.

perhaps the team goal may be a conference title?

How can you be a fan of a team and not care if said team wins it's conference?

your question is fair. my answer is: because that's not whats important to me. I enjoy watching the team get better. thats MY meter of success. annually. if the other stuff (titles, awards etc...) that typically follow happen then of course I am happy. but that's not what I like to track as a fan.

Of course their goal is a conference title and yes this is absolutely a must win.

you dont know that. their goals may be quite different actually.

It is for certain that Stikboy is much more likely to be right than you are in this situation. But then lawyers always think they have all the answers. Fortunately that usually is only in their minds.

If one of their goals is not a conference championship, something is wrong with the program

I've played sports my entire life including in college and can say with certainty that guys that make it to this level are absolutely about not only winning each game but their division/conference and a national championship. No one will convince me that any player doesn't want to win a conference championship.

It's a different story of how hard they are willing to work for it but the "want to" is absolutely there. Fans can feel free to "gauge success" however they would like and that's ok. But if players don't have the want to win any type of championship then they should just go play at the local Y and get their stats any way they can. JMO :)

oops ... I forgot to just use the cliches. silly me.

ok. we gotta just take'em one game at a time and focus on the next goal.

This game is going to be tough no doubt. Tech isn't as physical as WV, but they are more athletic. They play very good team defense and play well within their offensive system. They are a balanced team, thus any one or two of about 7/8 guys on their roster have the potential to go off. I would gladly take a 1-pt win and move on down the road.

I am glad I clicked on that link. If you don't know, the game starts at 6:00 tonight.

I, for one, am confident that we'll beat Tech tonight. I believe we're the better team, especially with us playing at home.

Of course, I also thought we'd beat WVU. So maybe no one really cares what I think. ;)

I too thought we'd beat WVU... In fact I believed we'd handle the press no problem, which in many ways we did just that this past Saturday. The problem for us, and I can see it being a problem for us again tonight is how they denied easy drive & dish to our spot up 3's... Also, our guys just didn't hit open shots when they were there, which is hopefully an anomaly. I think we should expect the physicality to continue on Trae and I think he learned a lot about how to handle it these past 2 games.

I ultimately give us the edge because we are at home, but think it's gonna be a rough one. 89-80 good guys! Boomer!

@WVU was not a critical game to me but now tonight’s game is critical to me. We need to get off to a good start and keep the foot on the gas. A good win tonight is important for conference title hopes but also important for the psyche of the team.

7-4 at under 16. Kind of tech’s pace but Sooners are playing hard
