This is rare for someone in the media...Holley Rowe was deciding who should be player of the year..So she gathered stats...Wow..wonder why more don't do that?

Not sure if it showed up...This site makes is not easy to post a picture...But she put Buddy and Denzel Valentine's stats side by side

weird that steals and asst are season totals instead of averages.

I thought turnovers might hurt Buddy, but they're virtually the same. Buddy averages 2.9 whereas Valentine averages 2.6. The stat that jumps out to me for Valentine is the 7.5 assists/game. That's an outstanding number even for a point guard.

It's going to be a close vote, but I bet Buddy gets it. At least I hop so.

I think it's very close, but to me (and I'm incredibly biased), Buddy has more "Heisman moments" -- times where he's put his team on his back and taken over/won a game.

In college, level of competition matters a lot. You can put up big numbers on middle of the road teams, but it gets harder against better competition. OU and Buddy played a tough non-conference schedule and play in the toughest conference. According to the RPI site linked above, OU played the 13th hardest schedule, MSU played the 68th hardest. When you're looking at two players who've both put up amazing numbers, it only makes sense to ask who they've played. To me that's where Buddy's play is cut above. He's putting up POY numbers and doing it with a very hard schedule. Frankly, MSU's schedule has been very weak for a team of their caliber.

My point is, you can't just put their numbers next to each other to compare, you've got to also respect that Buddy is doing it against much tougher competition.

It was funny to see the debate on CBS.com between Buddy and Denzel...I agree both players are great..But one guy was saying Denzel was better and that MSU was a better team....It is odd that OU is ranked higher...has a better record...and has played a tougher schedule...Yet MSU is better???.....Only one reporter said he put both players numbers side by side and he was voting on Buddy....I would assume all voters did that???

Michigan State is ranked ahead of us in Both human polls, we are higher in the RPI. And they are 26-5 we are 24-6. Everything else you said i agree with and think it should go to Buddy, but most these talking heads only look at the AP Poll.
