A question for the Tulsa fans

Tulsa is getting a stud in Jordan Clarkson. 6'4 PG/SG that can shoot and drive and comes from one of the hardest working, most humble programs around.

TexasRoundball has moved Clarkson above Cam Clark in his latest rankings, FYI.

Assuming Tulsa bows out in the semis of the CUSA tourney (I'll give them wins over Rice and Marshall), does Wojick start to feel any heat? Uzoh and Jordan are seniors. What has he recruited? What is the outlook for next year?

I know there are a lot of variables like how they look in the CUSA tourney, if they get an NIT bid and how they fare there, etc. But if they end up in the NIT and get bounced in round 1, or even miss the NIT, what is the mood of the Tulsa fanbase going to be like?

I think he's already feeling the heat. Pre-season ads were based on the slogan "this is the year we've been waiting for" and in reality it ended up slightly worse than last season. We probably peaked in early January when the team returned from a disasterous trip to Las Vegas and ran roughshod over Colorado before winning at Houston and SMU and it's been downhill since then even in the wins (close games against bad teams). In my opinion, Ben Uzoh and Jerome Jordan have performed to expectations and Hurtt serves as a quality 3rd option, but things really drop of from there especially when TU has the ball. Teams like UTEP and Memphis have more talent when considering all 5 spots on the floor. In the end, this team really misses Ray Reese.

Jordan Clarkson will contribute immediately as a freshman and I think DJ Magley will start from the beginning. The rest are probably role players with a chance to develop into something more. The only significant advantage for next year's team over this year's is that there will be significantly more depth. This year's team has suffered having only 3 reserves (2 freshmen and a RS sophomore) after the injury to Glenn Andrews.

My attitude is that there probably needs to be a conversation after the year that the 2012 is officially NCAA or bust. It can't be sooner because he just signed a contract extension before this season, but 7 years is plenty of time at a place like TU to build towards getting an NCAA bid every other year. If he can't do it by then it's not going to happen. There are some things to really like about the guy (virtually no trouble makers, graduates his players, shoots straight if you talk to him), but he's also got a personality that's very off-putting to some people and he's been very inflexible in his philosophies.

If you get a chance, come out to the BOK Center for a game or two this week and I think it will be easy to see the difference between the top 5 teams and the bottom 7 (with the exception of Aubrey Coleman) and then why TU finished 5th amongst this group.

Really good analysis. I've heard wojick on the Tulsa animal a couple of times and he doesn't really come off as a jerk but sometimes he gives some rather terse responses to questions.

SG: Scottie Haralson - UCONN transfer. 2008 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Mississippi.

I think this was a great pick up for Tulsa... Led his team to back-to-back titles in a state that has always had great basketball. If he would have waited another season or so I think he could've been a solid player for UCONN; his game is in the same form as Rashad Anderson's.

I consider TU my second favorite school(distant 2nd) and I personally don't have him on my hot seat, however one of my friends is a die hard and he told me today that its time for DW to go.

58-58 tulsa tied with rice with 5:40 to go. If Tulsa loses this one...wow.

Well so much for that. After crowing about how much better the top 5 were than the rest of the league, the 6 and 7 seeds are now playing in the semifinals. Go figure.
