Aaliyah Chavez is a Sooner!!

i mean how uconn won the game challenges your point they had the best player who had 40 ..

chavez upside is the best player in the sport ..
I might have crow to eat… but I’ll wait til next yr.

Chavez is smooth… very smooth. Now, granted she’s playing with other McDonald’s… but she’s fun to watch

I didn't watch the entire game, but from what I saw Chavez looked slow...maybe she out of shape?

She looked a little low and short… some of the other guards were much taller and athletic looking. I hope she isn’t a bust.

I think some of Chavez’s upside is hard to see from a game like that. I noticed their wasn’t much passing or set plays. Mostly a showcase for individual talent. The whole game was like one big fast break. Chavez did show her shooting capabilities. I do think she needs work on defense but I think that is also to be expected.

100% agree.

Turnovers are one of the side effects of the rapid style of play we use. Not all of them, some are mindless passes and that can be fixed, but the only way to radically limit them would be to slow down. No way that is going to happen.

I agree Bob. Turnovers are always going to happen when you play good competition. Just cut down on the mindless ones. SoonerinKC and I have been saying this all season.

To me, we did just that as the season went on. Usually do under Jennie. We really cut down on just the plain silly passes etc. I was actually very confident going into the UConn game. We just didn't play very well and made a few plays that we hadn't been making in the 7-8 games previously. UConn had something to do with that of course. They were more athletic than I remembered. And, the officiating in the 3d quarter had a lot to do with the issue. That was just Gino smartly waiting until the second half so OU couldn't adjust with time to get something done and knowing the officials would allow it usually (swallow the whistle) at least until it became too blatant and unfair. Old coaching dog at work. He has been in a few more Sweet 16s than Jennie. Live and learn.

Finally watched a little video of Chavez. Her handles and toughness will make us more efficient on offense. Upgrade at point is an understatement. It's high school tape so we will have to wait and see how she does stepping up. Looks pretty good to me though. Didn't watch the allstar game, but I didn't think she looked slow.
