Aaliyah Chavez is a Sooner!!

If Texas wants her, they will get her, if it comes to money. They can money whip TTU into oblivion...
Cody Campbell and John Sellers are former Tech football players that are O&G Billionaires and have been very motivated and willing to give NIL money to Tech. They are a big part of getting Nijaree Canady to Tech softball. It is estimated they gave $10 million in NIL for the Tech football portal class this winter. While Texas boosters have more aggregate wealth than the Tech boosters nobody appears more motivated to support their school than these two boosters at the moment.

How is she going to go to texas where they already have an All American pt guard returning? Doesn't seem like she's interested in not starting for a year

If she goes to Texas, its for the money...not for the basketball fit.
Agree because Texas definitely does not run her style of offense at all. The way she plays offense I don’t see Vic letting her play her style at Texas. Probably at first sure, but not for 4 years. Hell Vic will probably let her play however into in the first few games but after that, that will definitely change big time.

If you are a good coach (and Vic is) you adapt to your players. Trying to fit square pegs in round holes is how you get fired. She can easily adapt.

Chavez would put us up to a higher level; see the South Carolina game as to what happens when you move up a level in competition. Or for that matter, look at the Tourney game with Notre Dame a couple of years ago. Getting a player of the level of Chavez shows that you are staking your claim.

I have a feeling she wouldn't play well with Harmon, and I wouldn't want to sit on the bench or just sub if I was a player of that caliber. Watch this kid end up at Tech, which IMO would be a waste, although i'm sure many would say the same if she ended up at OU, incorrectly of course.

A week from today Aaliyah will announce where she’ll be going….. How are yall feeling?? I think I am nervous, but my guts tells me she is staying in the state of Texas and going to Texas or Texas Tech. :/

She hasn't been coming here. There was never a chance in hades of her coming here. She used us as bait to get me money from schools who can afford her.

Idk how true it is but I’m seeing that Elena Lovato is a top candidate in Arkansas HC job. That will be very interesting because I do know Lovato was in on Aaliyah Chavez recruiting process. I had saw a comment that said that could be a impact on Chavez decision.

Man if that's true that's dirty on her end. I don't think she did that intentionally - if you look at it, JB's style is EXACTLY the way Chavez likes to play, and she's young and probably connects very well with recruits. I think she's done pretty nicely considering the little time she's been here. If she's doing the same after 5 more seasons, then that'll be a different story but let's give her a chance! If you look at the attendance it's not been that impressive and I wouldn't blame recruits for wanting to play in front of a packed arena night after night. It'll come in time....I hope.

I mean, it's like an employee using a job offer to get more money. It isn't a great look, but it happens every day.

Saw an article she won Gatorade POY… national. Said she’s narrowed between OU and the horns…didn’t think she came out with that officially.. which this isn’t

And im pretty sure she is announcing Tuesday the 25th. From what she said on Social Media. Idk where the article got Wednesday from.

From the Hornfans Message Board:

I am just not as optimistic as others on this forum. My gut just tells me she will probably pick OU for these reasons:

1. Coach Baranzck is a great offensive head coach and their game is all about guard scoring and threes, more suited to Chavez style of play.
2. Norman is closer to Lubbock than Austin, would be easier for her family to attend games.
3. Vic is more of defensive minded coach and his teams just do not have free wheeling scorers or big time three point shooters. We were dead last this year in the SEC on three point scoring.
4. If Rori chooses to play another year, then that complicates things. At OU, Chavez will be the starting PG from day one and will always have the green light to shoot.
