Al Eschbach says Kruger should cut some players

Arent is the only guy you can get rid of.

If Kruger were going to get rid of guys on scholarship, he should have done it before this season. He could have gotten rid of Washington, Blair, Honore, or whoever he wanted when he got here. But now that he kept them there is no reason to cut anybody.

Al has been saying Pledger and Fitzgerald are not big 12 calibur players for the past 2 years. He just overeacts. They are both good players. They are not the problem.

Arent barely plays. You could lose him, although I wouldnt. He'll be a senior. I'd actually play him more minutes and just define his role as the big guy who guards the other teams center. Nobody needs to be cut.

Well he is a fool for saying that. Both kids have earned honorable mention All Big XII. Pledger is going to be (or darn close to it) a top 10 all time scorer at OU. Fitzgerald will be a top 20 all time scorer at OU. It is just stupid to pick on these two guys and blame them for OU's problems. If you want to say they should be role players or bench players rather than stars fine but to act like they shouldn't even be on the team is dumb.

That's an idiotic statement to make. This year's roster is not Coach Kruger's fault as he can thank Jeff Capel for laying waste to a once successful, proud program. Who else is he going to get if he cuts players? Have a bunch of intramural all stars walk on? Give me a break.

It's going to take two recruiting classes to get some talent back in the program, especially at the guard position. If the incoming players can consistently score from the perimeter and help Pledger, this team is going to be in good shape next season to compete for an NCAA tourney bid and be competitive again. With success will increase Kruger's ability to bring in better players and things are back up and running again. He's done it everywhere he's been in the past, no reason to think it can't happen again at OU.

Most intelligient thing Al has said in years.

The problem is there aren't many players left out there to get. The few that can play are being recruited by a bunch of teams.

Blair is terrible and needs to move on to a lower division school where he can play. Tyler Neal has the ability to play but he needs to compete more in practice and in games. He is extremely passive. I imagine he will be back next year but unless he picks it up his playing time will be even less.

We will improve next year with the freshman and M'Baye. We will have a ton of seniors so that will be our team. If we open up scholarships it needs to be somebody who can start ahead of a senior or a transfer who will start in two years.

This season isn't Kruger's fault. Capel left him with a terrible team Osby helped but he the best player from last year graduated so it was a wash. A

Another glaring weakness on this team is basketball IQ. It is terrible. Most of these guys can't remember the play called at a timeout.

If there aren't players left to get, then cutting players isn't such a great idea, is it? Which renders Al's statement something less than intelligent.

Cut everyone but Clark, Osby, M'Biaye and Pledger. "My team's on the floor"

New Orleans is staying Division I now...can Blair go back?

Eschbach doesn't even go to (or watch) the games anymore.

He is at every OU game that doesn't conflict with a Thunder game or when his show is on air. He also watches every road game when he's not on the air. You are mistaken.

Unless he no longer sits down in the press area, I know for a fact he was not at the Iowa State or OSU games, because I was there and looked for him. There was a Thunder home game during OSU, but not Iowa State.

Too many people take what is said on the SA (by all the talking heads, not just Al) at face value. Everything that comes out of their mouths is prefaced by the thought: "What can I said today that will rile people up?" They don't care if what they say is logical or makes sense. They just want what they say to motivate people to call in.

You corrected yourself about the OSU game. The Iowa State game was during Super Bowl weekend. Al has been a life long Giants fan and was out of the state for the Super Bowl. Like I said, he hasn't missed an OU game by choice.

Especially when it comes to "The Ultimate Troll" Jim Traber.

I'm sure he's referring to Neal. Eschbach isn't the biggest White Lightening fan...

He was at the A&M game. I saw him in the tunnel after the game.

Quit defending daddy.
