Altman to Oregon

Altman to Oregon, then Altman to Creighton?

Not sure how I feel about the hire...he's a good coach but from a UO perspective I would definitely be scratching my head. You can tell they have been striking out for a while.

Please explain, maybe i'm missing somethin.

Definitely wasn't the impact the interim (also previous) AD had promised. Amazing that a program with the money and backing this one has struggled just to get a guy like Altman.

He will fail. He's a good coach, but doesn't have the recruiting chops to challenge Howland or Romar.

I always felt its hard to judge a coach's recruiting ability when at a mid major. Considering the facilities Oregon is presenting, I'll give Altman's recruiting ability the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think he'll ever be great at Oregon, but I do think he'll be consistently decent to good (17-22 wins). Ernie Kent had a few great years, but also had several pretty bad years. I doubt Altman's ever going to have a 29 win season (which Kent had only a few years ago), but I don't think he'll ever win just 8 games, either (which Kent did two years ago).

I agree he doesn't have to be a GREAT recruiter personally. Show those guys a couple of those sweater clad Oregon cheerleaders, the facilities they have and the connection to Nike and kids will be jumping to go there.

He'll probably hire a couple good recruiters and have that place going. Not a big name hire, but a good hire.
