Amath declaring for NBA draft...

If? Look at all the guys that don't make NBA rosters every year. This is a kid that needed to work his ass of this summer to be productive in the Big 12. And don't think that playing overseas is a given. There are a lot of talented players over there. Bigger, older, more seasoned. He has a long ass way to go.

Hopefully his scholarship will go to good use.

He has a French passport and won't hold a foreign roster spot on any Euro-league team. M'Baye is basically guaranteed a contract in the France next season.

Sucks for OU, but in reality, it's a smart decision for him.

We just lost 4 out of our 5 starters and our top reserve, and by most standards...not a very good recruiting class coming in. We are going to be bad. Really Really bad.

If we are bad, at least we'll be bad with a guy who can't score like him. OU will be fine without him.

Him leaving wouldn't bother me that much if we had better talent behind him. He's playing a position that we really don't have anyone else. Now we have smaller shooting guards, a point guard and some big guys inside. We don't have that long, athlete that can play the 3 or 4.
There are some juco swing men still available. I wonder if Kruger takes a hard look at some of them?

We need to find a Terrell Everett out there. He came out of nowhere as a late signing.

It's definitely a head scratcher why our recruiting class is so weak. That's our biggest problem. Where are the recruits in year 3?

Now that I see he is graduating in May and is 23 years old, I can see why he is leaving for pro basketball (probably Europe).

It does hurt OU for next year, he wasn't great but he would have been a starter and solid player as a senior.

I hate that he didn't tell LK he was at least considering leaving because they could have at least stayed in contact with some recruits.

Welcome to Kruger ball.

I wonder how long the coaching staff has known. He sure isn't going because of any breakout year. Sounds like he's known his plan for quite some time. Hopefully Kruger and the coaches have known for awhile also and have planned for this(i.e. inside track on another good signee).

Maybe this explains the scholarship to Cole and the signing of both Hamilton and Elliott in the early period. Perhaps the coaches knew they were likely working with more scholarships than we believed.

Is the recruiting class weak? Woodard is a borderline top 100 kid. Elliott and Hamilton were top 50 juco kids and Booker is a top 150ish kid (I think). I don't know that I would call it weak. Now Ellliott is gone due to grades but that doesn't drastically change things.

The part about being 23/24 years old and having your degree as factors in leaving early make sense.

What doesn't make sense is why transfer from Wyoming and sit out a year if you were going to leave as soon as you had your degree?

I loose respect for any player who doesn't keep his coaches updated on what he's thinking.

Wyoming had a coaching change.

Do you think that Lon and Co didn't know that Amath was planning this for a while now ? I'm assuming he did and has been planning on replacements - it's not like Amath exploded suddenly out of nowhere forcing this decision.
Makes sense why Neal played quite abit more than he should have in the tourny
According to what Kruger said today in his media availability, they were taken by surprise by this. It doesn't sound like it is something that they knew was coming.
Ouch. I hope that is not the case

The guy can't play in the B12 much less the NBA.
Oh BS. He was a good big 12 player
