Amath declaring for NBA draft...

Thats true. Capel had his share of duds.

He also had a bunch of bigtime recruits like Blake, Warren, Pledger, Fitz, TMG, Gallon, Clark and Osby.

So far, Krugers best recruit was Mbaye and we only got him for one year. Next year will be year 3 and the team will be made of Krugers recruting, outside of Neal and Clark who have both regressed under Kruger.

We'll see what his guys can do next year. It would be nice if at some point Kruger gets one big time recruit. You obviously dont need 4 at once like Capel got. It has proven time after time that it can backfire. BUt I do think you need at least one to compete for anything big.

Bring back Capel. At least he could land guys like Nick Thompson, C.J. Washington and Abdul Ahmed.

Common you are selling Fenton way short. Chris Early, Bobby Maze, Jaun (one Semester) Pattillo; Ray Willis, Tony Neysmith, Olrando Allen, Carl Blair, etc. Be fair to Fenton he worked hard to destroy this program.

And Bennett and Arent did what exactly? They logged in about the exact same amount of time.

Bennett red-shirted and Arent is inured. Not exactly the same. I know Arent uninjured probably wouldn't have played much, but it is still not the same.

You can't use facts a logic with him.

Is the recruiting class weak? Woodard is a borderline top 100 kid. Elliott and Hamilton were top 50 juco kids and Booker is a top 150ish kid (I think). I don't know that I would call it weak. Now Ellliott is gone due to grades but that doesn't drastically change things.

Booker is ranked as the 80th best SG in this class. He isn't in the top 300.
He isn't even ranked by most sites though...which isn't really a good thing.

Woodard is the only good addition IMO.

Woodard is along the same lines of Hornbeak/Cousins.

This class is worse than last years.

Not sure a whole lot of people would agree with you on this point.

Nobody but an idiot would agree with him on that point.

Tyler Neal got more minutes and scored more points as a freshman because the rest of the team around him SUCKED.

I have no idea why "Capel fans" stick around here. Go to the Duke board to support your boy.

Yep, because the people that make the Rivals rankings have coached 5 teams to the NCAA tournament. They know exactly what they're talking about without fail.

You think Cameron Clark is better as a freshman than right now?

You do know that Booker was available in the early signing period and OU wasn't even looking at him?

There is a reason he was lightly recruited and is a borderline mid-major/high-major guy.

That doesn't mean he can't come in and provide what OU probably needs most - shooters. He is a pure form shooter and can catch and shoot.

As far as recruiting is concerned though..Booker is indeed underwhelming and its hard to see him as anything but a 3pt catch and shoot guy, preferably coming off the bench on a good team

So he's exactly what this team wants and needs, but he's underwhelming?

Nobody wants to say he brought in Osby, Griffin, Warren, Davis, Crocker, Patillo. Its all about guys that didn't pan out.

I def think we need more talent. I believe Kruger will make us a tournament team but I dunno if he will ever push deep into tournaments (elite 8's...ect...) unless he can sprinkle in a highly rated guy here and there

Fact is highly ranked guys do matter. Obvious it is not always the case but for the most part you need a highly ranked guy or two. I have no idea on this, but if you looked up teams that normally make sweet 16's you will probably see a highly ranked guy on each team (for the most part)

So, will Kruger ever be able to do that? I hope so. Time will tell. I think in a few years if we don't have a highly rated player committed we should worry. As I'm not content with an above aver team that is only capable of making the tournament and loosing first game or only winning one game. I want this program to head in the directions of consistently making pushes deeper into the tourney.

Poor decision by M'Baye. If you do a little research on European salaries you'll see that an average player starting out makes 65-100K. The NBA minimum is 500K for 2014-2015(the year M'Baye would go out if he stayed one more year.)

I'm no NBA scout but I would put his chances of getting drafted high enough to stick to a roster around 0% right now. If he returned for another year his chances would go up substantially IF he put in the work to improve himself. Plus even if he didn't improve he could still go play in Europe in 2014.

Osby is a great example- at the start of the year I would say there is no way he gets drafted, now I think an NBA team could get a steal going for him late 1st round/earlier 2nd. Decent height, rebounds, good post game, consistent outside shot.

Effectively what M'Baye did was throw away a chance at making millions in the NBA to start collecting a European pay check of 65-100K one year early. There is time value of money, but that won't make up for making 400K a year less.

Mayby the kid just wants to go home. He is from France.

Yeah, unfortunately for us, like someone in the comments under the TW article said, isn't one of the main goals in college to get your degree then go to work? He probably figures he'll try the NBA draft and see if he gets lucky, then use the same agent to get him a decent gig playing in Europe. There's not much point to stay and risk injury to play for free next year if he truly wants to go home and support his family, like he says.

You know I used to enjoy coming to this board but the Capel trolls have made it nearly unbearable.
