Another "old"mans observation

Lets not forget...we were 4-4 with a banged up WW and we were 0-9 w/o him. Also in his last game we just beat Texas who was ranked 10th.

I'm not sure the first part of this statement is ENTIRELY true and it would make for nice debate. The second part is a work in progress. KD certainly didn't set the ENTIRE NBA, it's coaches, fans, players and media on it's ear like BG has in his rookie season...but, KD is, at this point, the superior player...

1. As freshmen, KD was way better than BG
2. BG went thru 2 NBA offseason training camps before playing in the NBA.
3. KD was POY as a freshman.
4. KD is the leading scorer in the NBA

But lets not get away from the main point..How good each were as a freshmen in college...and the answer is KD all the way.

1. As freshmen, KD was way better than BG I can't find where the term freshman was used
2. BG went thru 2 NBA offseason training camps before playing in the NBA.
3. KD was POY as a freshman. again, I didn't see freshman mentioned
4. KD is the leading scorer in the NBA not sure what the rub is, I said "at this poiint"

But lets not get away from the main point..How good each were as a freshmen in college...and the answer is KD all the way.

I look at our coach and see that he got it done w/ a great player...while Barnes couldn't get out of the 2nd round w/ a great player.

Capel "got it done" in Blake's sophomore year. Durant left after his freshman season.

In their respective freshman seasons, the only ones that can reasonably be compared, both Durant and BG lost in the second round of the tourney.

texas might have won it all if KD had stuck around for his sophomore season. Or they might have been upset in the first round -- we'll never know.

It was implied...since we were comparing what they did at their schools.

Durant was a frosh when they lost in the 2nd round, and BG was a soph when we advanced to the elite 8. So, based on your other posts in this thread, that isn't comparable.

Besides, Louisville beat us by 30 when BG was a frosh, while USC beat Texas by 19. Both are bad but 30 points sounds a lot worse than 19.

I think its funny that earlier in this thread people were coming down on Capel for playing Neal when his shot wasn't falling, but a few weeks ago, people were coming down on Capel for not playing Neal enough. I think Neal needs to play a bunch, as he will be one of our key reserves next year. Sometimes your shot just doesn't fall. If Hollis Price had missed 6-8 shots in a row, would you have wanted to yank him?(and yes, I know, Neal isn't Price).

I fall into this camp, too. I'd like to see Neal, Washington, and Newell play a lot down the stretch.

Well, whether its fair or not or what someone meant, "what they did at their schools" doesn't equate to what Blake did in his freshman year only. I know what you're saying and I'm not sure why you're pressing this as it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Like's been pointed out, Blake had to carry that team BOTH years and had a smidgen of the talent surrounding him that KD had, thus taking pressure off of KD.

I was one who said Neal might consider passing the ball a bit more last night, but I never suggested pulling him.

But 0-for-8 is disastrous. A player should recognize that it's not his night and adjust his play accordingly.
