Now that practice has started, anyone hear anything about who is running as starters?
That particular starting lineup would only have two real shooters, but of course that wouldn’t mean that group would play all their minutes together. This feels like a team where there will have to be some mixing and matching because the best athletes/defenders aren’t necessarily great shooters. I’d guess some of the cupcake games will be used to explore who plays best together.I have no intel but I think this lineup would be really fun & solid. Got shooters and athletes. Plus only 1 bad defender in Pack starting.
1-Xzayvier Brown
2-Nijel Pack
3-Derrion Reid
4-Tae Davis
5-Mo Wague
Bench guys getting real mins
Dayton Forsythe
Jadon Jones
Jeff Nwankwo
Kai Rogers
Kuol Atak
Forsythe is not going to start this year. Not alongside Brown and Pack.Best guesses based on absolutely nothing:
Probable Starters:
* Xzayvier Brown
* Nijel Pack
* Tae Davis
* Mo Wague
Potential Starters (competing for 5th spot / could steal a spot):
* Jadon Jones
* Jeff Nwankwo
* Dayton Forsythe
* Derrion Reid
Definite Bench Minutes:
* Kai Rogers
* Kuol Atak
Unknown:
* Alec Blair
Won't play:
* Andreas Holst
* Reid Lovelace
* Jake Hansen
* Finley Keeffe
Yea that’s an excellent point. We would be tiny on the perimeter with Forsythe on the floor at the same time as Brown and Pack. Seems like he is more likely to be the guy who subs in whenever one of those guys needs a rest or is in foul trouble. I’m sure he will get plenty of minutes, but can’t have more than two of those three on the court together.Forsythe is not going to start this year. Not alongside Brown and Pack.
I think the 5th starter is likely to be Jones or Nwankwo, with Reid having an outside shot.
It’s that way for all teams now. Way it is. Maybe the rowing team or softball would be better for you to get excited about? Boomerhard for me to be too excited when there is so much turnover year over year
I know that is the way it is...I just don't like it. It kills what I loved about college basketball. More continuity in NBA now than collegeIt’s that way for all teams now. Way it is. Maybe the rowing team or softball would be better for you to get excited about? Boomer

I agree, but I do feel like Reid is probably going to get the starting job just because of his size and raw talentI like this but Jadon or Jeff but who do you bring off the bench?
Jadon elite 3d guy. Jeff is gonna turn some heads quickly.
i am still not convinced that Reid can play the 3 at all ...I agree, but I do feel like Reid is probably going to get the starting job just because of his size and raw talent
Yea, I just worry about floor spacing with him and Davis together in the lineup.i am still not convinced that Reid can play the 3 at all ...
I hope i am wrong but he seems like a college 4 ..
I don't think reid has any chance to start unless he somehow forces wague to the bench and I don't see that happening..i am still not convinced that Reid can play the 3 at all ...

I can somewhat relate because I do like the roster better than most of Moser's rosters. Two things give me pause: his best roster was two years ago and he missed the tourney and did a terrible job using the athletes on that team. Second, while I do think there might be more quality players on this team than most, it jumped out of me this morning when I read the SEC preview in The Athletic that even though their analyst is high on OU (he predicts an 8th place finish), his biggest concern is lack of depth. I think that is reasonable because while there are some guys who we think/hope can be good, several of them (Jones, JN, Atak, Rogers) have never played at this level. And two of those guys are coming off major injuries. For those reasons, it won't absolutely shock me if they struggle, and if that happens, we will definitely have to rely heavily on a few guys.I don't think reid has any chance to start unless he somehow forces wague to the bench and I don't see that happening..
I'm trying not to drink the kool-aid but I'm getting jacked for this year.. I think this is a sweet 16 squad. Idk even who will be our best player, pack? Brown? Maybe even davis? What if Jones or nwako actually are good? Same with Reid? What if Dayton goes crazy? The ONLY thing I worry about players/roster-wise is if wague can be smart with fouling. Then the rest is on porter..
