Was he here this weekend? If so, how did his visit go and when is he deciding?

Posted by DM in another thread...........

He visited. He wasn't offered yet. He played with the team. OU is coming to work him out this week. If OU offers it will be a three team race between ORU, OU, and Murray. I think if OU offers he'll commit. OU's main selling point right now is pt. That may be why they are slow playing him in hopes to get someone else with the promise of pt.

Why slow play him? Don't we have 6 scholarships to give? No way we fill them all. He would only be here 2 years, and would at least give us enough players to practice. Can't believe we would slow play a kid with the complete lack of players that we have now.

I agree. Unless the kid is absolutely awful, I don't see why we wouldn't offer him. We have one post player, Fitzgerald and he's like 6-6 with a 2-inch vertical.

I guess Capel just isn't as desperate as I would be at this point. Or maybe he still thinks he can get Terrance Jones. If we only had 2 scholarships left it would be one thing. But we have like six!!!! Maybe it's just me, but I'd take him if I could just so I could come close to filling my roster.

Even if we do get Jones, we still could use the bodies! I'm not saying to fill all the roster spots with scrubs, but if we don't get Jones, and Washington gets tired of the slow play, what other options do we have? ZIP! Sign him up while you can get him.

Agreed. The only explanation I can come up with is that Washington must not be a Jay-Z guy.

My assupmption are a combination ofNick Thompson, APR, and maybe some self imposed penalties on scholarships.

For one, I don't think this staff will/wants to use all the ships for next year. There just isn't enough talent left to justify filling our remaining ships with bodies. I also heard that CJ was injured (ankle) and that the staff is waiting to watch him workout before they decide on whether or not to give him a scholarship.

If the injury report is accurate, that could be a legitimate reason to delay offering the kid. The only other thing I can think of is that our coaches are reasonably certain of bringing in someone better to give us more post depth.

But we have been down this waiting game road before. How many times has that strategy come back to haunt us when the recruits we missed out on made us look like fools for passing on them? I could name several myself without trying too hard. I sure hope this is not one more we can add to that list.

Per Capel in the "Doom and Gloom" article posted in the scrolling at top he does not plan on filling all 13 scholarships so who knows we may not offer him. Says he wants a PG and an center.

There's enough film on Washington to know what he's about. He's better than Hardrick straight up and in some senarios better than Fitz. This is about being strung along and waiting on other recruits. I suspect they like Thompson more. I suspect they're still waiting on Ross and Jones.
