Anyone listening to the Animal?

Probably right....OU fans are very negative right now and arent seeing clearly (myself included)....Mizzou fans have never seen clearly and obviously think their program is better...

I don't think it's just right now, Edmond. OU fans have been oddly modest about their hoops program all along. Sooner hoops is more respected nationally than it is in the state of Oklahoma, and many OU fans still think oswho is the state's basketball power.

I'm convinced it's the local media that has fostered this situation; they bend over backward to afford oswho "equal" coverage and the aggies rarely if ever come in for the same criticism that OU sports is subject to (unless I missed them, they've never chastised oswho fans, for example, over the huge drop in basketball attendance since Eddie retired, but they did criticize OU over attendance as recently as 2009).

Only Missouri and OU fans would say Missouri has a better basketball program than OU.

I don't get the impression that's what the debate is about. I don't remember anyone saying Missouri has a better basketball PROGRAM. There would be nothing to back that up. FOUR Final Four appearances vs. ZERO is a tough fact to look past for Missouri supporters.

I get the impression that what the debate IS about is which is currently the better basketball JOB. Some OU fans will be biased against OU because of either Coach Capel or the fact that Joe C hired him instead of bringing in a bigger name. The reason I wanted a bigger name was because OU had the nation's longest consecutive postseason streak. I felt as long as that was in play, OU would only enhance their basketball program.

Once Coach Capel was hired, a lot of fans, even prior to coaching his first game decided Joe C just didn't care enough about basketball. Although I never felt that way, the prevailing thought was seemingly put to rest until about 14 months ago. Here's the way I see it. Coach Capel needs to get this turned around QUICKLY or I would have to agree that Missouri is at least "going to be" the better basketball job. No way can OU (or most schools) wallow in mediocrity very long and remain a great basketball JOB.

Listening to the animal for even 5 minutes will kill more brain cells than a quart of
tequila.

What do people like about Austin? I guess I don't get it. I view Austin about like OKC or Tulsa.

Two words: live music. If you're not into that, then the gap is not that wide, although Austin has much better food.

Not just music and food -- Austin has much more diverse cultural offerings across the board than OKC or Tulsa (and I say that as a proud native of OKC).

My wife's taking me to Austin in early March to celebrate my birthday, and she's very excited about it. She has a fine time when we visit OKC, too, but that mostly has to do with visiting my friends and family, whom she likes very much. She says OKC reminds her of New Jersey (where she's from), and while she doesn't quite intend that as a knock, it's not quite a compliment, either.
