AP poll

Beat me by literally seconds.

Wonder how long it will take before that one vote becomes a first place vote instead.

We did get a vote or two last season, iirc.

We are probably going to have to get to 12-1 before we are really sniffing the Top 25. And we may even have to wait for the opportunity to beat KU or ISU in January before people really take notice. We are under the radar right now with several solid wins away from home and one quality loss. But I'm ok with that. Slowly but surely, voters and the media will begin to take notice if we keep winning.

That is probably about right. If and by the time we get to 12-1, there will be fewer one loss teams. We have a top 30 RPI now. It should inch up a bit with 4 more wins. So maybe.

The problem is that two of those games are against atrocious teams.

very true. La Tech is a very solid team, better than A&M in my book, though A&M will be away from home.

A&M is probably the scare game. I think that I read that OU is 97-3 over the last 100 games against non conference opponents at home.

Who cares? there's a playoff in hoops. lol

Well, firstly, a team has to qualify for the playoffs. Secondly, how a team is seeded in the playoffs has something to do with how a team fares in the playoffs. RPI and rankings has something to do with all of that.

Past that, I don't care much either.

I am always the pessimist gary, but two of those three losses came to Stephen F. Austin, who is a salty mid-major flying under the radar just like La Tech. :)

I think the rest of the country is going to be surprised by the Sooners and the rest of the Big 12. OU , ISU and Baylor are going to be right up there with KU and OSU.

I think you are right. Iowa State is looking much better than what I originally thought. So is Baylor. I've been pretty high on OU from the start. It is hard to discount Kansas. O State, well, I'll have to see it to believe it before I'll think that they can close the deal. But, they might.

The guys name is Doug Doughty from Roanoke, VA Times.

Perhaps he got a chance to watch us against George Mason.

all the top 25 teams game highlights are on sports center ... other games are hit or miss ..

this is even more of a factor now that the college football regular season is over

It is an important part of becoming a respected program again. It means more media coverage and scrutiny. It means more fan awareness and hopefully support. Once we are ranked again, it will mean that the program is back where it belongs.

It also means better recruits
