Arkansas

Win or lose, this officiating has been the WORST!!! I didn't think it could get worse from the few games we've seen thus far this season, but this takes the cake. Are these refs foreign?

Maddie gets a steal and layup 64=60

Offensive foul on Peake.

Hook with a runner, 1:35 66-60

Maddie started instead of Jo.

Griffin 19, Hand and Hook with 14. Vegas only had one point in 9 minutes.

Whitney and Jo with nine boards each, Maddie with 8.

Every time Ark closed to one or took a lead, OU responded on the next time down the court. They got no runs with the score tight.

Maddie was 4 of 5 from the field. Two of two from the line. Ten points. Eight rebounds, two offensive. Three steals, two for turnovers that led to fast break points by Maddie. One block. Three assists, two turnovers. Had the highest EFF score for OU, 21.

Got to watch the feed off and on, couldn't pick up the radio feed. Looked like a different Jo today. Maybe she plays better off the bench. Maddie was outstanding. Did not play like a rookie at all. I hope this will be the start of something special. Aaryn just had one of those games. I don't think the game would have been close if we take care of the ball, and did a better job at the line. A very good victory over a scrappy Razorback team. Our defense was pretty good today too, and the block outs on the glass has gotten a lot better. Now on to pluck some Duck feathers tomorrow.

After looking at the box score, Jo had eight points and nine rebounds in just twelve minutes of play. If she could have stayed out of foul trouble, could have had a monster game. Pretty good as is.

Sounds like their minds are on anything else other than basketball. These trips usually turn out to be big learning experiences!

It better be, because they have a very long list of things to learn.

It is interesting to reflect on the discussions of the summer which tended to predict that OU would be horrible on the inside because of Griffin, who scored nineteen and was named game MVP for the second game in a row.

It is also interesting that few seemed to give Maddie much credit since she wasn't a really highly-rated recruit by HoopGurlz. Yet, she played 32 minutes, quite well, and probably made more big plays and had fewer mistakes than anyone not named Griffin tonight.

Jo seems to have regained some of her form in the last two games. Nice game off the bench. Portia? She really hasn't contributed yet. I like what I've seen of Kornet. But, she has a lot more to learn than Maddie. That's interesting.

The announcers said Maddie made one shot that was way over the heads of anyone inside. Long, long arms make her difficult to defend inside.

I don't think anyone could have predicted such a change in Nicole G., but personally, I did acknowledge her marked increase in fluidity based on the Australia footage.

It is also interesting that we've only seen Maddie start one game to this point, and while she played great, we still have much to see from her throughout her freshman year. :)

It's easy to take one stat and reflect on it when that stat looks good, but when it's not good, nothing's said. :)

Sherri's son said on the broadcast that Vegas was probably pulled with a minute gone for not blocking out, something that they had emphasized this week. She got a couple of quick fouls upon returning.

Great post!

I didn't get to watch the game either but I did wonder who was supposed to be guarding the Peak girl who finished with 30 points.

There were several positives from the game but turnovers was not one of them. Whitney and Morgan each had 6. That's pitiful, any way you look at it.
