Baylor Picks Up Some Massive Recruits

They were excited about the opportunity to hit women and get away with it. Too soon?

DFW's head shall explode because of the first two responses to this thread.

We've all seen it before. It doesn't take much to see that Baylor is headed for a fall. The funny thing is I would be surprised if they win anything meaningful before it happens. :)

i dont understand how they are doing it, something shady is going on down their.

Oh, I mean... Recruiting is a rough game, not for the faint of heart. Threats of deportation, cover ups, agents, cash, etc are just the name of the game.

Luckily, Baylor has a coaching staff that follows every rule to the letter and simply avoids grey areas all together. They have displayed high moral fiber and have turned Baylor's program from a bottom feeder to recruiting powerhouse following murder, lies, scandals, and deceipt with good old fashioned hard work, elbow grease, honesty, and integrity.

Well at least drew focuses on the recruits who are good enough he doesn't have to coach them.

No, its actually Drew's strong Christian make-up that helps land these kids, DFW said so. Or its that he waits outside kids' homes until 12:01 when he is able to formally recruit them and knocks on their doors. I love the response from BU fans that the NCAA is all-over the situation in Waco that is would be impossible for them to not get caught. I guess they are unaware of how organized crime never really gets caught unless their is a major undercover op or an informant. Its pretty hard to trace cash, OT should have known that much.

haters going to hate man. I'll leave it at that. It is not a done deal. But I'll be honest, if they sign and there is a lock out... it is going to be the second coming of Phi Slamma Jamma in Waco.

very few NCAA teams have two guys that athletic much less six. I don't know if Baylor will have anyone that can shoot from 3 point range, but the high flying act will be extreme.

They ain't paying players and they are not committing any academic fraud. Drew's an animal on the recruiting trail and he has been that way for 7 years. You are just now seeing the fruit of that effort.

They fired their head of compliance whose dad is the #3 guy in the NCAA compliance office over HR policy issues. You don't let a guy like that loose with a loaded gun if you have any skeletons in your closet... If they have things to cover up, you keep that guy on the payroll somehow.

You really are that naive to think that people with lots of money don't know how to hide it? Did you go to Baylor or something, I'm just trying to figure out if you are what I think you are? On a side note, I'm a real azz, so don't take anything to personal, its just college basketball and nobody in it is curing cancer (although I truly applaud the coaches for really making it a big issue).

Congrats to Drew's Crew. If I'm a Baylor fan then I would much rather have Miller and Bello than Nash and Harrison.

The bottom line is it's unprecedented what Baylor is doing and there is enough smoke out there that there has to be some fire. When things seem too good to be true they usually are.

I remember getting killed on the old board about every program being dirty in some way and then OU gets slammed with investigation. Baylor will get theirs too, it just depends on what kind of violations are happening. The dangerous thing about Baylor is the history of craziness could get them much stiffer penalties.

you're a class dude- Big Time! And the reason I will be a closet OU fan when they aren't playing the Bears.

Possibly.

But you have to understand how this looks from outside the program.

Baylor goes from nearly getting the program put on death penalty, to scoring some decent (but not elite) recruits in the first few years of Drew to - all of a sudden - beating out the best programs in the country for elite recruits the past few years?

And it's not like this is a tradition-rich program that just had a few down years... Baylor has no basketball history to speak of. They had accomplished virtually nothing on the court before they started landing elite recruts all of a sudden.

Surely you can see how this looks from the outside.

Add to the fact that it's not exactly a well-kept secret that Drew is disliked in the coaching community.

I'm not going to sit here and say that Drew and his staff are cheating - just to say that what has happened in the past few years looks very suspicious from the outside.
