Former KSU coach Frank Martin's young Gamecock squad lost a heart breaker in Waco 66-64. A S.C. player was fouled at the buzzer, but after a careful study of the replay, the officials ruled the foul came after time expired. From what I could see, it was a good call.

The interesting part, though, is that South Carolina was even in the game on Baylor's home floor. The Gamecocks are picked to finish at or near the bottom of the SEC this year. Baylor is ranked in the top 25. That proves two things: (a) A Frank Martin coached team will always play hard, so you had better bring your "A" game with you. (b) Never assume you're outmanned when you play a Scott Drew coached team. Great recruiter, but the jury is still out as a bench coach.

I think Baylor has the talent to compete for the Big 12 title this season, and finish no worse than third. Then again, that seems to be the case every year. The question is, will they live up to the billing or underachieve again? Stay tuned.

The jury has come back on Drew, hes a poor bench coach.

Ada: I didn't see the game. Are you saying the "good call" was the original foul call, or the call that was made after it was reviewed?

Baylor will always disappoint with Drew as the coach. They almost let a very averaged SC team beat them at home.

He's been to the Elite 8 twice in 4 years. Losing both games to the eventual National Champions. And he's won the NIT. His teams have far from disappoint.

The call that was made after it was reviewed. The release of the shot and the clock hitting double zeros was so close, it took a slow-mo replay to determine the outcome. From what I could see, the review got it right.

Exactly. He isn't a great coach, but it's not like he is Travis Ford or anything.

Well, S Carolina was fouled with about 2 seconds left, no call, then another foul at the buzzer.

I'm not taking up for Baylor or anything, but the game shouldn't have been that close. Baylor went 22-43 from the charity stripe. But than again, they have no one to blame but themselves.

I didn't see the game but 43 free throws! That had to be a choppy game without much flow.

If you think that game was brutal, you should have seen the OU-Zags women's game last night. The officials called a total of 55 fouls. Even worse, they couldn't make up their collective minds if they wanted to call the game by the old rules or the new rules. So, they went back and forth like they were just as confused as the players and coaches. I don't recall more than one or two block-charges called the way the new rule is written now. It truly was one of the worst officiated college games I have seen in sometime. I wouldn't say that if OU had lost.

No question they allowed UCLA/West Virginia type defense a good part of the game and one charge call was ludicrous. The Gonzaga player didn't even get in front of our player much less be set.

They went from mayhem to tickytack and back to mayhen and then back to tickytack.

I don't recall Sherri or the players being so upset about officiating.
