Baylor vs Texas

Last night Baylor made shots they normally don't make. Add a great defensive effort and they pulled away easily in the second half.

80.1 ppg - baylor season average on offense
75 points - last night's game

48.1% - Baylor season shooting percentage
48.4% - Baylor shooting percentage last night

59.4 PPG - baylor scoring defense on the season
65 points - last night scored by UT

The numbers that Baylor put up against UT were close to the season averages. In fact, it would have been even closer except for the little flurry at the end when UT put on the full court press against the Baylor backup players. The average margin of victory for BU for the season is 20.7 points. Baylor had Texas down by exactly 20 points with 46 seconds remaining in the game before UT put up a few "oh by the way" points which made the game look closer than it really was.

Baylor did not beat UT because of some out of the ordinary performance or a one time hot game. The "out of the ordinary" performance was that time when UT was actually able to keep the score close against Baylor.

BU is just flat out better than UT and practically ran them out of the gym(again). 11 straight wins in the series, and with a top 5 national recruiting class coming to Waco, this streak could very well live on for several more years.

Tycat, KM is truly out of control. And NOT coach of the year material. But I did enjoy that official keeping her on the sidelines and not getting the slightest bit intimidated. KM clearly hated that .

I also noticed Dru Hancock, Senior Associate Commissioner of Big 12 and also the the Chair of NCAA D1 Women's Basketball Committee for 2014-15 was sitting right next to Kim. I'd be surprised if that was an accident.

My point is, Baylor did not score as many easy points as I have seen them make against other teams. Baylor is a 34% three point shooting team. Last night they shot 56%. Davis is not a good free throw shooter. Last night she was knocking down jump shots further than that. Sure, Baylor can score a lot of points but they beat a lot of teams inside the paint. They don't normally beat teams with Davis shooting 17 ft. jump shots. Normally, other teams would be thrilled if Davis relied on those kind of shots rather than point blank put backs. When Baylor beat OU in Waco, Baylor had 50 points in the paint. Last night Baylor scored 26 points in the paint even though they still scored a ton but the shots were not as easy as when they score at will in the paint.

I have always said Baylor is a really good defensive team. The two players who have impressed me the most this year, that OU faced, was Plum from Washington and Davis from Baylor.

Just found out through a very reliable source, that Mulkey was talking directly to a few of the Texas players during the game. Things that a coach should NOT be saying to her own players or ANY other teams players. She also was nasty at the end of the game in Davenports (TX) face and is why Davenport pushed her off of her. That might be the reasoning behind D1 Chair person was there. I know that Big 12 is looking into it as their were witnesses.

Mulkey's remarks in media after the TX game were uncalled for. Seems to me that she thinks she can make her own rules. Really??? The other team, (whether it be TX or us....or any other Big 12 team) shouldn't fight to the end? Is that the way she coaches? The other team should just lay down? Because your bench is in and they're down by 20+ points? Does she not believe in playing tip the last second. Does she not believe in her bench whatsoever? I'd be pissed if I were the parents of those (Baylor bench) girls! TX has been playing all year with bench players as we have! Don't make excuses for a team coming back on you. Good for Aston to not "quit" on her girls. I'd be pissed if Sherri made our girls just give up! It's not in our nature!

She was thinking the bigger the spread the better the seed in the NCAA. Sorry Kim, there should be NO team to lay down and roll the red carpet out for you! Earn it like everyone else does! Just goes to show she can't lose or WIN with class!

THAT'S the bottom line IMO!

Mulkey had issue with whorn fans last year in Austin. See starting with post #10.

DON'T FORGET - Mulkey threw a fit when then-freshman Nyeshia Stevenson shot a three late in an OU blowout win, and missed it badly, when she saw the shot clock expiring. IMHO, that's when "Skeletor" became what she's become today - a no-class troll.

Ok I'm a little confused on some of this.

1. What is she supposed to have been said to the Texas players?

2. Who is Davenport and how about some detail on what took place. I must have missed it.

3. Why would any of this cause the D1 chair to be sitting by her, and when were they seen sitting by each other?

I'm still trying to get details but found this posted on TX Hornfans site.

"If you still have the game on DVR or you see a replay, go to the final 57 second mark when Kim pulls her starters.

While her subs are checking in, the only players on the floor are Texas. Kim squats down. Davenport is closest to Kim. At that moment, Kim yells at our girls "Be careful what you wish for". She then yells it again and winks. Then she mouths something else (can't make it out but it looks snarky) this time directly at Davenport. Then play resumes...

After the game, Mulkey makes another verbal jab at Davenport who pulls away looking a bit stunned. I won't swear by it but in slo-mo it looks pretty nasty as if Kim says FU. Just saying what it looks like... Take a look.

Good coach or not, Mulkey is a horrible human being. Talking smack to players is a new low from that trash who, in my opinion, held all the previous records for new lows.

I am now fully in the Aston camp on how she closed out the game. I hope she carries that final 57 seconds into the tournament and into next season. My sizable donation with my ticket order next year will include a note that simply says "Bring me the head of that trailer park trash from Waco"."

Trying to attach Youtube link but it's not working. Actual video. No sound, but just watch!

That witch should not put her hands on ANY player! TX or OTHERWISE! I'm sure that Davenport's momma is ready to kick some ass!!!!

I don't know what was actually said, myself. Trying to get the scoop. Davenport is a player for TX (#1) who Mulkey was smack-talking to. I put the D1 chair was sitting by her as per Tycat937's post. (Not sure if it was relevant, but know there was complaints on Mulkey)

"I also noticed Dru Hancock, Senior Associate Commissioner of Big 12 and also the the Chair of NCAA D1 Women's Basketball Committee for 2014-15 was sitting right next to Kim. I'd be surprised if that was an accident."

Baylor is now the stranded of the big 12... Last 5 Big12 POY, Last 5 regular season/Big 12 tourney champs... Davis could repeat as POY for the next two seasons and then.. It could be Brown after that...

People can say what they want but Kim is getting it done.. IDK if it's a us vs the world as people have said her, but her team will run threw a wall for her if need be and that's one of the reasons for her success.

They are the "stranded"?

I'll buy into that...

Straddled. I think MAC meant straddled.

It may have been a double entendre about Mulkey.

She's definitely got issue, that's for sure. I'm leaning towards psychotic with delusions of grandeur coupled with a deep paranoia and self-worth issues.

Can you imagine having her as your mother? I'd be a runaway.

And she's REALLY competitive too.

That's not being competitive IMO. She has serious control issues. When she was married, her father wanted to bring his wife to wedding. As of when she wrote her book a few years ago, she still hasn't talked to him yet. Her children have never met their grandfather, as of that time. She wants to win at all cost, as we've seen. Name me one other D1 women's coach that has had so much conflict with opposing coaches and/or players. I think we're watching a train wreck happen in slow motion. It may not be this year, or within 5 years, but somewhere down the line I think there will be a defining moment that will permanently stain (if not already!) whatever success(es) on the court she's achieved or will achieve.
