Baylor

Syb's been on this board since 2008. You have been here how many years? People sometimes disagree with him but if anyone should leave to start s new board it's not Syb.
 
I know McD's are important. You can't tell it to the Volunteers. They also have 6 or 7 McD's AA's on their team. I have no doubt Coale will get OU back to beating Baylor.

Sherri will need to recruit the same or better type players that Kim is bringing in.
 
The 2017 class has a lot of talent top to bottom. The way I see it so many prospect from Texas ,Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. OU has a chance to get some top recruit. Everybody not going to Baylor or Texas. Some kids want to play soon so they will pick others school. Kansas is the school that OU will be competing with the new staff. They are top flight recruiters.

We already have gotten some top recruits. You are just too far out of the loop to know that.

Maybe. Then again maybe not.

No one knows the background of all the folks on the board. Has he ever played WBB? Has he made all Big-12? Has he made All American? Has he ever coached WBB at the College level?

It is still true that we have signed some top talent. In fact some of our players over the years have been among the best who have ever played the game.

Most of us do not get on Baylor's board and denigrate their players. We could have. Davis stunk up the place a couple of recent games. Did anyone of our regular posters get on the BU board and make disparaging remarks about her?

Do any of our regular posters get on the BU board and post negative things about them? They also stunk up the gym against OSU a couple of weeks ago.

Have any of our regular posters gotten on the Long Horn board and posted hateful things about them after getting beat on their own court? I am not aware of it, and if so, would be disappointed if it were true. It is not acceptable behavior.

We have had people get on here and berate KK for "Shooting Bricks". If that is the case, why is she 2nd in the Big-12 in field goal percentage? Why have they not posted hateful things about all the 100+ conference players with worse shooting percentages?

Concerning Davis of Baylor. They have been playing her at the 3 spot all year and she has struggled on the wing. They moved her to the 4 spot for the Texas game and she and the team looked in synced again. She really can't play the 3 spot--she is an inside player at 5-11 which is strange but her game is unorthodox and strange but really works.

To be clear I was not suggesting anyone should be posting hateful things about Nina. And in fact my point was that to my knowledge no posters here had gone to Baylor's board and done that.

The points you made about Davis are spot on.
 
Kim is trying to develop a high-low game with both Brown and MP which is still a work in progress. This leaves Nina out of the post area and oy other spot is the wing. No way you are gonna leave the reigning conference POY off of the floor and that is where the problem lies. Nina obviously is not adjusting well to her new position and at times is lost. This is why I believe Kim moved her back home under the bucket in the Texas game. You could see an instant change in her production and overall attitude. With Jones currently playing at a high level, I would like to see Davis remain at the 4 and a rotation of Brown and MP at the 5. Along with the B12 assist leader and Koala Wallace hitting 3's consistently, we could very well be a nightmare matchup for most teams in the nation. This year's motto is "8 is not enough!"
 
Im so tired of hearing about how Baylor is better because they recruit players from the McDonald's All-Polical team, and we'll never beat them cause we don't get those players.... Niya Johnson was ranked 43 overall and the 8th best guard- and Nina Davis despite being a high school All-American, was ranked the 7th best forward in her class, and not, a McD's All-Political team member. Bottomline, high school rankings don't mean a thing.....

You take those two off the team we've won the last 6 games, even when we terrible we could of beaten them.

And not to mention... We did beat them last season. fyi.

Lets call a spade a spade. There are several OU fans that have been expressing dissatisfaction with the results of OU WBB for some years. And they are justified in doing so. As Sherri set the performance standards for the OU program from 2000-2009 and has failed to sustain them.

During that ten year period OU won 6 regular season conference championships and 4 tournament championships. They went to two final fours and one championship game. Sherri declared that it was the Guys goal to annually compete for conference and national championships. She set the expectations for the fans with her words and on the court.

Beginning 2010 until the present OU has won zero regular season championships and zero tournament championships and made one trip to the final four six years ago. Not the performance standards Sherri set for herself, her team and expected by the fans. During this time span Baylor became the de facto performance benchmark for the Big 12.

Fans are rightfully disgruntled that Sherri is not coming close to acheiving her self stated standard while earning a salary that is among the top 5 in the country. Few want to pay for a consistent top 8 team and instead get a consistent top 10-20 team. Hence they migrate to this website to discuss with their peer what are the team shortcomings and how can they be retified. Nothing more, nothing less. No one has called for Sherri's head. Not Vinnie, not Soonerbay, not really anyone.

Many comparisons are made with Baylor because the are the performance standard for the conference and who you have to go through to reach the Sooner goals. During the last 6 season while we were winning zero championships the Bears have won 5 tournament championships, 5 regular season championships and gone to 3 Elite Eights, 2 Final Fours and won 1 National Championship.

It is only logical to look at their program and ask what are they doing that we are not doing? How do we get on par with the Bears? How do we attain the goals set by Sherri? Until Sherri is thumping Kim's behind Baylor is going to be regularly discussed on this board. Just as the media is going to make certain that B12 WBB fans are aware of everything the Bears do to win basketball games.

There are no easy answers to Sherri's problems. You cannot snap your fingers and make Baylor and Kim go away. For certain we cannot continue rest on our laurels and compete with Baylor. Also it is premature to make a final judgement but it appears that Texas is attempting to take steps to compete on par with Baylor. We know that Aston has significantly elevated the level of talent in Austin to be more competitive but it is still undetermined if Aston can coach them up to be truly competitive. But for certain OU fans should be concerned that Texas may soon pass the Guys as the second best program in the league unless we step up and become more competitive.

Sherri has made recent progress in elevating the level of the talent on the team and more appears to be on the way to the Sooners but I think she is going to have double her effectiveness in signing top talent if she is going to have her team consistently on the same plateau as Kim has her team annually. Time will tell and it probably will not take more than two years to know for certain.

Can you name any team in the last 5 years that has gone to a final four with no McD players?
