Big 12 talk (other teams games )

Kansas just knocked of KSU who had a big lead at halftime.

We are currently the worst team in the league, it appears. I'm not saying it'll stay that way, but right now, we are.

Like clockwork. Ksu blows a lead to Ku. They just can’t beat those assholes no matter what.

KU seems to be having one of their vintage seasons, unfortunately, at least as far as winning conference games. In the past 11 days, they have won three games that came down to the final possession. They have executed so well down the stretch, and that’s why they are in first place. Man I hate them but I have to give them credit for doing what so many college teams can’t, and that’s execute under pressure.

So Kansas won just days after Bill Self's dad died.

Every team in the conference should be forced to watch video of how KU closes out games. Four of their last five games have come down to the last possession, and they won them all. They always seem to execute and get a good shot. Meanwhile, when Tech had a chance to win at the end of the first OT in a tie game, they chucked up a 30-footer with three seconds left on the clock. Tech made some shots late in that game, but teams always seem to make at least a couple boneheaded plays down the stretch, while Kansas keeps its poise and executes.

ISU broke its 24-game losing streak in Big 12 road games with an OT win over oswho.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy watching ku get blown out in AFH.

So the Big 12 lost the SEC/Big 12 challenge. I think that's the 2nd or 3rd in a row. The SEC will not be an easy league to walk in to and compete when we get over there in the next couple years. I'm guess it's 2023 at this point.

It’s definitely a good league and won’t be easy for us when we make the move, but a couple things to remember. The Big 12 has a winning record against the SEC this season overall, and the SEC gets to basically bench its weakest teams each year for the challenge. Baylor was missing a couple key guys Saturday, so who knows how that game goes if they are healthy. But KU was the only home team to lose, and I’ll gladly sign up for that even if it means losing the challenge. 😊

Big 12 hasn't won the challenge in 4 years now. Didn't realize it was that long.

The Big 12 is a good league. Maybe even a really good league.

But it's not on the pedestal that some folks put it. Last year's NCAA Tournament and stuff like the Big 12 / SEC Challenge prove that out.

IMO, of course.

I watched a good portion of the challenge games on Saturday. What I saw that really stood out to me is how athletic and long that most of the SEC teams were. Baylor was playing without their leading scorer, but Bama looked every bit as athletic as they did. UK looked like grown men compared to KU. Tennessee had every bit the athleticism as Texas. And we saw first hand how talented/athletic Auburn was. Although I don't want to admit it and even though it may go somewhat against the metrics, the SEC is every bit as good or better than the Big 12.

Not top to bottom. As was pointed out above, the SEC gets to hide away its worst teams.

Like the sec does in everything else, they rig things in their benefit as much as possible. They only offer their best rosters each year in this challenge. For instance the only time vandy has been in the challenge was when they had 5 top 100 players on its roster. Ou whipped them by about 30. It should be a cycle.

You're right in that the SEC's worst team (Georgia) this year didn't play in the challenge. But their second worst team (Ole Miss) handled KSU pretty easily. And for the record, I'm not a believer in "one game sample sizes". My post was more about the athleticism that I saw in the games and how I was surprised at that difference in some of those games.

They definitely have a lot of great athletes in that league. I definitely think that it the two leagues played 100 games against each other, and all the SEC teams were involved, the Big 12 wins more than they lose.
