The wheels are already in motion. He wants the job.

Flame away.

Why do people think Brooks should be fired? He has done pretty well. The playoffs were not great last year but how many coaches can win in the NBA without their second best player?

I don't know that I would want a guy's first nba gig to be coaching KD and Westbrook in their prime years. Break in somewhere else

While being great players, KD and Westbrook need coaching about as bad as anyone currently playing basketball. They epitomize the reason that the NBA is unwatchable by many many people that like watching basketball.

Of course, like many NBA players, they wouldn't accept coaching, and Self would fail in OKC.

Where to begin...

my goodness. gary, you are a head scratcher to me. You seem like two completely different posters. Half the time I completely agree with you and others you seem like a troll

If Brooks gets bounced in the 1st round I could definitely see him getting fired, not sure if Bill Self would be the main candidate but I wouldn't be against it. I think we will start to see more coaches make a successful jump to the NBA. My 1st hope is Brad Stevens.

Stevens isn't leaving Boston.

Put Tom Thibodeau at the head of the Thunder and suddenly they play defense. He also might be able to set up a play at the end of the game and run an offense.

Agreed.

I know the Thunder and Grizz are different type of teams but the Grizz get every shot they want from multiple players on the offensive end and the Thunder rely on contested 25 footers from two guys when they need a basket.

Relying on incredible shot making is a hard way to win a title, imo.

i definitely agree there are better coaches out there but the Thunder are not going to fire a coach when they have been improving every year since they have gotten hear.

But his seat will get hot if they don't make it back to the finals this year and win it in this year or next year

except for the fact that they are one of the better defensive teams in the league

That is more of a roster management issue, than a coaching issue. Way too many guys on the OKC roster that are offensively challenged, or at the very least, just not very good offensive players.

They should have kept Harden, traded Westbrook for a true, distributing-type point guard, and went from there. They need a better guard off the bench as well. For a team that starts 2-3 guys for defensive reasons, they aren't a very good defensive team. So they don't defend all that well, and they have black holes on offense. Not a good mix. Luckily Durant is THAT good, but it becomes tougher in the playoffs.

That is my take. And I suggested a couple of years ago that keeping Westbrook around would be a detriment, long term.
