Bill Self to the Thunder?

Westbrook is not a top 7 player in the NBA. Suggesting that is simply being a homer. Nobody independent of the Thunder would rank him that high.

He doesn't fit with Durant. KD would be better with a "different" roster construction around him. And some help. Can't put him on the court with Westbrook, Thabo, Perkins, and Serge, and wonder why all the shots he takes are tough. I wonder why?

more like top 5 or 6 ..

If your goal is to win a title would you rather have Noah or Westbrook? And is there anybody who would take a Westbrook over Steph Curry? You could rattle off a dozen players without even mentioning the usual top tier suspects.

Exactly. I'd take Blake over Westbrook. And Blake isn't generally thought of as a top 10-15 player by most.

almost every gm in the league would take westbrook over curry ..

For the Thunder, I'd take Noah over Westbrook but not Blake (terrible defensively). Would take Westbrook over Curry. Curry is a better shooter but that's about it.

Every GM in the league would be happy to have either. However I'm sure more than a few would take Curry first due to his incredibly quick silky stroke. Westbrook is a better defender but that's it.

The jury is still out whether Westbrook is better than John Wall & Kyrie Irving. When healthy many would take Rondo over him. Virtually everybody would take Chris Paul & Tony Parker over him. Deron Williams has slipped for some reason but the top of his game is every bit as high. Teague for Atlanta is starting to ball. Kyle Lowry can do work.

It's the NBA. Freak studs abound.

It's not a "for the Thunder" discussion. I mean, we've talked about that, but if you are valuing the players in a straight list, like, if the teams were redrafting today for a playoff series next week, Blake gets drafted before Westbrook. IMO. Westbrook certainly doesn't get drafted 7th. Or 8th.

boca gonna boca

Yet nobody would list him as the 3rd best player in the NBA if they were preparing such a list.

Buddy and I had this discussion a few weeks back. If there were to be a NBA draft for all available players, we both thought the draft goes something like this (for next season and future seasons)

1. James
2. Durant
3. Davis
4. Griffin

We had a discussion about Davis and Griffin and how it would be razor thin between the two but thought because of Davis' defensive superiority and being a few years younger, he would be #3. Had the same discussion about Love as well, but his inability to play defense made him drop out of the conversation.

As for the top players currently, no doubt in my mind that Griffin is now in the top 10 after this season. Look at his performance last night...incredible.

A redraft for the future, or a redraft to win a playoff series that starts next week?

Either way, I agree that Blake is probably moving up, and has a MUCH better chance of going that high, in such a draft, than Westbrook. Blake has a very unique skill set.

LJ and KD are one and two obviously. After that it is up for debate. You have CP3, Blake Griffin, Westbrook, HArden, Kevin Love, Melo, howard, aldridge, parker, irving, curry. Can't think of anyone else. Mine would probably be

LJ
KD
CP3
BG
Westbrook
Love
Harden

I don't know, it's too hard

Excuse me all to hell then. My list:

1. LeBron
2. KD
3. Paul
4. Noah
5. George
6. Rose
7. Gasol
8. Westbrook
9. Aldridge
10. Curry
11. Blake

Redraft for the future.

I'm not a Thunder fan so I'm not biased. I believe as Westbrook goes, so do the Thunder. He isn't the best player, but he is the most important IMO.

not sure why you are so set on qualifying it as for the next playoff series.

If that is what you want to use they westbrook would be drafted before BG hands down.

If you want to use the future, then it is probably griffin. But the debate wasn't about westbrook vs griffin

Yep. Curry is easily on track to become the most prolific 3 point shooter in NBA history. Easily.
